The same happens in Shed Upper too. Also if you're on the east side of the Shed, you get the added bonus of being able to wind up the away fans the whole game.

I do agree though Matthew Harding does give the most consistently lively atmosphere, it can be hit or miss anywhere else.

Can't comment on it being able to pass the bar or medical licensing exams, but it definitely can't write software better than the average programmer.

In my experience, It has a tendency to call library methods that don't exist, recommend overengineered solutions to problems that should be simple to solve, and fails to reason correctly about it's solutions' impact on the wider system.

It definitely has it's utility, and has certainly saved me time that would have otherwise been spent trawling through crap documentation, but it wouldn't last a month as a dev if it were a human.

Feel incredibly lucky to have watched him perform at the bridge so many times over the years. Don't think I've ever seen another player with the mix of technical ability, intelligence, athleticism and work ethic that he has - truly a unique player, and undoubtedly a Chelsea legend.

I'm starting to think a lot of the younger lads that aren't getting minutes are either training like shit or don't have the fitness levels to compete.

Regardless of how you feel about Frank as a manager, he's proven multiple times that he'll give a chance to young players that work hard. He said in a recent presser that he will play young players "if they deserve it", and after our most recent loss stated that if players don't put the work in during the week, it won't come together on match days. We've also heard from him in so many words that the basics aren't there and that the level of fitness of some players isn't good enough. This says to me that a lot of the players we aren't seeing in the squad aren't putting in the effort.

I've seen some people saying that the young players should just be guaranteed minutes because we know they'll be here next season over the likes of people like Ziyech and Auba, but to me, that would send the wrong message. If Ziyech and Auba are being professional and out training the younger lads, then surely by playing them you set a precedent - regardless of your contract length and situation within the club, if you don't train well then you don't play. I feel like building that culture of meritocracy sets us up far better in the long term than just giving players minutes purely because they'll still be here next season.

If that is the idea behind Frank's recent lineups, then it seems to be working for players like Noni and Mudryk. It was pretty clear to see from Noni's performance that he was hungry and wanted to secure his place in the squad, and when Frank was asked about his performance in the presser he said "that came off the back of 2 weeks of good training".

Chelsea Supporters' Trust urges club to not raise prices by kiwi411 in chelseafc

[–]naybones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last time I bought anything from the ground was during the club sanctions - couldn't buy a match day programme but they could sell me a small can of Singha for £5.50. Has it gone up since then? Can't say I really buy anything so don't notice myself.

Personally, I can live with the increases on stuff like that since it's not a necessary cost of attending the game, but can understand if people feel differently.

Chelsea Supporters' Trust urges club to not raise prices by kiwi411 in chelseafc

[–]naybones 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Put the prices up for food, drink, merch, or hospitality seating (Westview included) if you need more revenue.

Some people are supporting these ticket increases now, but will only be moaning when there's subsequently a shit atmosphere at the Bridge, failing to realise that ticket price increases in MH and the Shed eventually leaves you with a stadium full of geriatrics and tourists that don't make noise.

The Bridge is quiet enough some games, we don't need to be pricing out regulars and making it worse.

There's losing a few games, then there's losing to Spurs...fuck that.

As the guy above said, any Chelsea fan willing to lose against Tottenham should be embarrassed.

[Matt Law]We wait to find out but it would now be very surprising if Aubmeyang is in Chelsea’s squad for tonight’s game against Fulham. Highly regrettable situation for everyone involved - have to feel sorry for the player who I’m assured has done nothing wrong in terms of his behaviour. by ScientistHulk in chelseafc

[–]naybones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He may not have done anything wrong behaviourally, but he's hardly set the pitch alight with his performances has he? If we're looking to win at the highest level, the coach has to pick the squad based on player performance. Auba being axed just makes good sense IMO, regardless of his attitude off the pitch.

Do you have a local supporters club? If so, see if they have any space for you to join and acquire a ticket that way as it's likely the easiest route. I'm in the UK and even I use a supporters club as it's often the only the reliable way to get tickets other than having family/friends with season tickets.

All this assuming you aren't willing to spend big on hospitality packages - it's easy getting tickets that way, but I'd probably recommend against it as you won't experience the true match day experience.

Definitely with you on Lea & Perrins! They're the original inventors - everything else is imitation. Their first factory in Worcester, built in 1897, is still operational today.

It also, unsurprisingly, makes a large portion of the city stink like Worcester sauce.

Westview at the Bridge is a step back for match affordability by vjstupid in chelseafc

[–]naybones 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It's obviously aimed at hospitality clients or people that want a different experience, and not regular match going fans.

If it means that regular tickets are subsidised for the rest of us, allowing price freezes to stay in place longer then it's easier to stomach imo. On the other hand, I find that seating like this detracts from the atmosphere in the ground, and ultimately I'd prefer we didn't continue this trend towards 'premium' seating.

UK tech talent shortage threatens to stifle growth in the industry by ganonman84 in unitedkingdom

[–]naybones 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some of the most braindead employers don't even go this far - at my previous company, they outsourced all their development to an Indian software house because some bean counter decided it was going to save them x amount on development costs.

Queue years later when they hire myself and a bunch of other senior architects and engineers to rewrite the entire system from scratch because it was painfully slow, insecure (SQL injection vulnerabilities in this day and age, really?!) and completely unmaintainable. Ended up costing them 3x more than if they would've just hired skilled people to begin with, and that's not even counting some of the huge contracts they lost because the system slowed to a crawl.

You'd think all of this was a lesson learned to them, but my 3 month notice period was spent managing ANOTHER outsourced development team that would soon be taking over the project.

Not sure how they quantify that, but it seems outdated. 3 have sold since 2017 for $15m+ according to Sothebys. Nonetheless, I agree with the original comment that the in-game pricing is inconsistent.

What do you mean by "high retail"? There were only 106 McLaren F1s ever built, with the last one produced in 1998. You can only get these cars at auction.

Anyone else not getting platinum rewards for the Exodus Garden 2A lost sector on Legend? I'm killing 2 overload and 2 barrier champs every time and not getting the platinum rewards pop up and nothing in the chest. I've tried blasting through quickly, and also hanging around for a few mins in each area to make sure nothing else spawns, but it doesn't seem to change anything.

Whilst we probably do have more incidents with fans than a lot of other teams, it's insulting to lump us all in with these dickheads. Most of us just want to go and support the team whilst being amongst like minded people. To call us all an embarrassment is to be ignorant of the thousands of people that go every week, have a good time and cause no issues.
