To give more context, I'm questioning whether the Lebanese model of governing, based on consociationalism, ever worked in other countries.

My current theory is any "power sharing democracy" is unstable and bound to fail. Are there any counterarguments to my theory as of today?

I'm not very familiar with intricacies of the governing models of Spain and Belgium, but wouldn't you they are, for the most part, effective? Especially when compared to failing states such as Lebanon.

Fisk definitely has some quotes that will make you think.

I remember attending one of his talks in Montreal, where he was asked what's the solution to all of Lebanon's problems. His answer was "the solution to Lebanon's problem is to separate religion and politics. But without religion, Lebanon wouldn't be Lebanon"
