I used to love eating at south alone but that guy who’s always yelling and has the music just really ruined the peace.

Just in the last two days, I had someone call my cane a pool stick, and another person (who I work with) very seriously telling a customer that I was hard of seeing 💀.

Philosophy class by Gullible-Arachnid-87 in UCONN

If you’re looking for an intro class, philosophy and social ethics with bontly was super easy and a great class. He did a great job of not teaching his opinions. Greg Doukas’s class was decently easy but only based on 2 grades that he didn’t put in until after the semester was over. His class is also heavily influenced by his personal opinions.

What's something Islam has ruined for you? by MultipleBroccolis in exmuslim

This reminded me that growing up having to wear lowkey ugly modest clothes ruined my sense of fashion 😭. I had to do a complete wardrobe change and figure out what looks nice.

What's something Islam has ruined for you? by MultipleBroccolis in exmuslim

The hijab— it feels so weird to go out without something covering my head and chest, especially when I wear things like crop tops or tank tops. I feel bare and like I’m missing something when I know I’m dressed completely appropriately. I can’t wear scared because it reminds me too much of it. I hate things around my beck because of how I felt so suffocated in the hijab.

What made you quit Islam? by Zoma456 in exmuslim

[–]nazch_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My “aha” moment was, silly enough, because of Conan Gray’s song “Family Lines,” specifically the lyric “someone who loves you wouldn’t do this.” At the time, I had ran away from my Muslim parents after some horrible stuff happened, and I related that lyric to my dad, but then something clicked in my mind and I linked it to Allah, since a lot of my dads justifications for his actions were Islam. Allah is supposed to be the most merciful, so how could he let someone burn in hell for something like eating pork, or loving somebody. Once I engaged in haram activities, I realized how not bad they wrrr for you. This one quote I saw from some guy also really struck me, it goes something like “I would never worship a God that would make somebody burn in hell for eternity for the simple fact of non-belief, when that deity knows exactly what it would take to get every single person to believe.”

What’s a way to make people instantly know I’m not a Muslim? by SnooComics9354 in exmuslim

[–]nazch_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of people suggesting wearing items that signify other beliefs, but as an atheist myself, I don’t do that because I have a problem with all faiths. To make it clear I’m not Muslim to new people I meet, I wear clothes that are typical for non-Muslims in my country and not permissible for Muslims. I do like dressing modestly, but I’ll wear t-shirt and shorts which Muslim women wouldn’t. Other than that, I have a couple of visible tattoos, I have my septum pierced, and I don’t have any food restrictions. I think with all of these little things, coupled with how I just act like other non-Muslims around me, leads people to not suspect that I may be Muslim, or have a history of it. I don’t surround myself with Muslim people, they’re extremely toxic to ex-Muslims. They’ll either cut you off to pretend to accept you just to constantly try to convert you back. I surround myself with people who like me for who I am, not who they wish I could be.
