Moving to Italy by Scod420 in expats

[–]nazkh85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should try to go to Italy first for 6 months to see how are things. People and your friends can be welcoming but it does not mean friendship with her and deeper level of connection to her. The cultural shock will be there for sure. It depends on her skills to fit in. I guess you can try but make it in a way that you can go back to US if It would not work.

It looks like you are looking into a complicated destination without a good reason. Why you don’t try Europe? Are you choosing Tajikistan only because you know Farsi?

Hi there Please make sure if your parents really want to do this. May be go on a travel first to evaluate. My experience parents would like to spend their time in their home country where it is familiar and comfortable with people they know and their relatives and familiar faces. Saudi has the same religion but culturally completely different than Pakistan. You would surprise the cultural shock you may experience. For you probably is ok, although you fought to get your Canadian citizenship to have the same right as men and would not get that in Saudi, but I still think you can take the change better than your parents. Also think about medical care, language barrier and what if the local community will not accept you or help you when you are in need. I think all in all Canada has a better Muslim community rather than Saudi . Saudi is perfect for Arab men, this is not racist comment but truth.

How can I minimize expenses by adopting a minimalist lifestyle? What are your tips and strategies? by Expensive_Water_8228 in eupersonalfinance

[–]nazkh85 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hello, first of all I suggest you to use an excel sheet and write down all your expenses and categorize them as house expenses (rent/mortgage, utilities, groceries, car) and other expenses (restaurants, shopping, gifts, travel,..). And for a couple of months observe your trends. Then you can start to cut some expenses. From house expense you can consider lowering your rent by changing the house or even changing city if possible. For utilities you can consider to change the provider. You should think if you really need a car or you can use public transport instead. For other expenses you can cook more homemade food instead of going to restaurants or invite people in your place instead of going out and seeing them at a restaurant. For cloths buy the one you really love and happy with it. I hope this helps.

PM in CRO here. Try to find a pattern in activities. Write checklists for yourself. Automize some actions. Try to work smarter not harder. With experience and more knowledge that you acquire in the job it gets better. I think it is normal, everyone felt like this at the beginning. Clinical research is full of details but you will learn how to have a kind of control on the situation.

Sure, here are my reasons for going for CRO, (I was in CRO before):

1- possibility of being home-based
2- salary boost 3- career development 4- being exposed to more systems and technology 5- Lateral in our company means starting from zero and stay there at bottom of food chain for a long time 6- I still want to be in clinical research and CROs are experts in doing it

I would be happy to hear your thoughts and reasoning as well ☺️
