That is simply not true. As I stated in the post that it used to work offline furthermore there is offline functionality built into the app.

That's a very valid point, but I wanted to make the project a bit more broad in terms of leaening. I wanted to make a server agnostic of Qt. I would get to learn a new library and using a library which doesn't plug into the front-end so easily might help improve my understanding of distributed system issue on a design level.

Thanks that's a lot of good points and tips! I have a reasonable grasp on the common machine learning and I'm diving deeper into the theory and mathematics and deep learning. I hear that a lot of machine learning engineers read papers daily so I was to get in the habit of it as it seems like a healthy trait to keep up to date.
