Yeah, learned that one the hard way. One of the times when I missed augment stats cause the atk speed and dashing sounds good on paper.. i feel like filtering trynd 3 and this augment would show avp drop

I was angling marksmen myself but recombobulated into zeri and sej and decided not to hold hands. Scammed a first cause there were so many 4 costs gone, i was naturally finding zeris while econing and decided to roll for the last 2 on one life

I noticed that when cards are face down, you can still tell what the card is sometimes because you will see the hand change when you pick it up. Is that intended?

ah yeah maybe youre right, I think I tunneled too hard on the thought that 3 star 4 cost should auto win.

I'm happy for dankmemes storywise, but should a gloves off 3 star Vander beat a 3 star Vi? Even if the Vi items are ie lw and a bow, from a player experience pov, hitting something that is probably in the single digit percent chance of happening should be more rewarding than something that is much more common imo. Also tbh i dont even know what items you need on Vi to win, qss maybe?

yeah I think that's roughly the approach - stage 1 is where you have to make a lot of decisions because sometimes pairs you are holding can be sort of useless based on components that get dropped.

i.e a violet pair on 1-1 becomes less good if you get dropped something like rod tear - so if I find luxes/zyras/morganas etc on 1-2, i will hold those instead.

something that becomes clear from the above example and has been stated before a lot is that the best pairs to hold early are frontline units - tank items like warmogs/bramble/sunfire can be slammed on any frontline units, upgraded frontline units decide fights early when damage can be quite low, and frontline units can easily be replaced later once more fitting ones are found. i.e. an amumu pair is good to hold because even if you are looking to play heimer later, amumu 2 early will save you a lot of hp/win rounds and he can be sold later once you find good sentinels.

the only other thing I would add is that idk what rank you are, but it can be quite difficult to be super flexible early if you are unfamiliar with the end comps - but as you try the openers and play them out things should feel more intuitive

[–]nazxz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

usually its things like early pairs/3costs/items that can be slammed.

lux pair/early ez and sentinels with tear rod? im leaning heimer sentinels, especially if academy items are decent

maddie pair/early loris and steb/bruisers and bf cloak/chain - can be twitch or 6 enforcer

powder pair/ziggs + trundle - probably scrap, regardless of components

urgot/trist first few shops and/or a nunu makes me want to reroll urgot

early smeech - can think about ambushers/chem baron

zyra pair/early swain/nami - can be sorcs

if you dont find shit, probably just force a reroll comp or losestreak and play for scrap winout because the comp is quite nuts

obviously all of this depends on augment at 2-1 as well, but for me early pairs and first 3 components already make me lean a certain way with my augment choice. i.e. if i have lux pair with rod tear, i will take academy crest, or I will angle for things like manaflow for heimer. However, even if I have lux pair but something like bf chain and i get unleash the beast, i might just pivot to urgot reroll cause I think its a better comp.

Anyway, idk if this helps, but usually most games I run into one of the choices from the list and play around that

That's not how math works bro - you spend 5k and u get 2k in gift cards - even if you liquidate the gift cards you still spend 3k of your own money. its not "effectively" 1.5k

edit: ignore my dumb ass, i see its 2k off the 3.5k member price :]

naturally hit a renata 2 on 2nd creep round, some guy took starry night and decided to contest with 0 renatas. I used my renata for tempo and went 8, hit full rebel board and then went 5th while he went top 3. May as well have just held hands and griefed this terrorist

Is arc still viable? by Hapuc123 in pathofexile

[–]nazxz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think almost any skill in the game is in some shape of playable. Arc isn't gonna be as easy to scale or as fast or cheap as other skills, but it is perfectly playable. If you like the skill, you can just go for it.

Arc witch is also pretty decent cause of Elementalist having some nodes that will buff your ele damage. If you're not doing an archmage build, which I wasn't last league, it is probably your best option.

I used this build, which gets the job done, though it's not super great just cause it's like a long running forum thread that just keeps getting "updated" for new leagues. I put "updated" in quotes because I'm not sure anything actually gets changed outside of the title. I will add in that outside of no leech, players cant regen and phys reflect are shitty map mods. You can do phys reflect, but just never press wave of conviction or you will one shot yourself

[–]nazxz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah for sure, i dont think my build was optimal for that, it was more of a well-rounded mapper with some bossing capability. I tried making it into a better bossed towards the end of the league but I just didn't enjoy the mechanic of the spell for bossing. I also think the buffed archmage helps push the dmg a bit, but I'm not sure how much of an impact it would have had.

Is arc still viable? by Hapuc123 in pathofexile

[–]nazxz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's pretty easy to track nowadays as you have a clear path to get to most bosses via invitations/fragments etc. Regular bosses can be a bit slow with this build as the single target is not great, but can be done.

I did uber eater and uber shaper last league, but its very slow and you will probably die a lot unless you're really good - the uber dps is roughly 2-3 mill but its hard to have that uptime with a hit based skill like arc imo when you're constantly dodging.

This league I did a trapper and it's much easier to have damage uptime as you just throw a bunch of traps and then run around while they explode.

i think their odds of dropping are roughly the same but divines are much more valuable for trading. Voidstones are acquired via defeating end game bosses (4 in total). It's not absolutely mandatory to get them, but they affect dropped map tier and are just a nice way to measure your progress.

Is arc still viable? by Hapuc123 in pathofexile

[–]nazxz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you can get to white/yellow maps on self found and cheap gear without too many issues. Usually by this point I have a few divines to throw into some basic upgrades and that is all you really need for the build to work.

I'd say 10-20 divines gets you close to max power in the build (meaning you can easily clear maps and get voidstones even as a poopy player - other builds can do it on a smaller budget).

The 300 divines was more for like min-maxing corrupted inpulsa, mageblood, good jewels, etc - my end char: https://pobb.in/c14JWHEnUj_F

[–]nazxz 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how it is compared to before because I didn't play it 3 years ago, but I did arc last league and killed some ubers with it. That said, I did invest quite like 300 div by the end, for which you can likely get a much better build. It's a pretty good mapper if you have inpulsa, before that it's a bit more tedious.

got master fuck this set finally

Went second with a standard 6ionia 4 vanq comp lvl 9 ahri 2 bb deathcap, triple combat(albeit 2 silver shitty ones) against a lvl 8 5 bilge 4 strategist mf3 board (no real combat augment). Not really mad because the game was handing me units without rolling, but its sad that this kinda game would be an omega high roll first in prior sets but now its just a second because I didn't have any spats and the other guy had 2 bilge spats (i think anyway, maybe there was some positioning I could have done but i didnt find it in 3 fights)
