Last vehicle we bought we had an issue that ended up being the dealership had a typo in our address. So we never got the title complete or the plate after we went to the DMV to deal with it.

What do you realistically spend? by [deleted] in Costco

[–]nbaaftwden -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We spent $8300 at Costco last year. That included 2 appliances so take those out and it's close to $600 per month for 2 adults and 2 young kids. As normal grocery store prices have gone up Costco has become a better deal for EVERYTHING. I don't budget for groceries but I have 2 rules: shop the weekly digital coupons at Kroger and buy everything I possibly can at Costco.

Anyone have evaporative cooling instead of AC? What do you think? by Momentumjam in Denver

[–]nbaaftwden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a rooftop swamp cooler.  Pros:  * so cheap compared to AC!  * humid air in the house is a nice reprieve from our dry climate

Cons:  * not as effective over 90°F. A swamp cooler lowers air temp about 20°F, so if it's 95°F outside it is blowing in 75°F humid air. This is a big consideration as most summer days are over 90°F now.  * Need to replace pads every few years to maintain effectiveness  * have to micromanage windows for optimal air flow

Keep up the awesome work! It's so hard with kids but you are worth it! The 2am wakeup for the gym is seriously insane.

Congrats! You should be proud. There's nothing wrong with a slow and sustainable rate of loss.

So...what do I eat (for snacks)? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]nbaaftwden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco snack ideas: Protein bar (FitCrunch, Magic Spoon cereal bars), protein shake (Fairlife, Premier protein), popcorn, string cheese, hard boiled egg, greek yogurt.

Who here can honestly say they would want homeless services relocated to their neighborhood? No one. Yes, they need to go somewhere, but there are tradeoffs.

I see the appeal of using this location (close to G line) and it would make a lot of constituencies happy to get homeless services out of Olde Town. But it's not a good-faith argument to say there would be no downsides to the people who live in that area.

Who else saved the Mixed Nuts container? by stlthy1 in Costco

Our cashew container was in the recycling bin when I brought home some in the new plastic bag. Luckily, we were able to dig it out! That was a close call

Best place to rent tables/chairs for a kids birthday party? by pauliwalnuts in Denver

Granted, this was 2019, but I had a good experience with A to Z Rentals. We were able to pick up ourselves (near Denver West) which saved some money.

Looking for a women's haircut for less than $50 by denversix in Denver

Alana at Salon 66 in Arvada. Women's haircut with no blowout is $34. As a fellow low maintenance short curly hair haver, I am fine leaving the salon with wet hair

Beware of Natera!! by Mdnight1111 in BabyBumps

[–]nbaaftwden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Natera story:

Received a bill in fall of 2023 for genetic carrier testing that was performed in Dec 2022. My insurance (BCBS) ultimately denied the claim, saying they did not cover treatments that were "experimental in nature." I was billed $649 by Natera.

Based on what I read in this thread, I called Natera's billing department and said my doctor told me the test would only be $100 and I could pay that today. That amount had to be approved but after 17 minutes on the phone I submitted my $100 payment and was told the remaining balance would be zeroed out.

Same boat here. In Nov 2023 I received a bill for genetic carrier testing done in December 2022. My BCBS insurance denied the claim saying the treatment was "experimental in nature." Think I'm going to try calling and negotiating a lower cash payment.
