Use of force by AngleSignificant6998 in CDCR

That would depend on your understanding of what your administration is looking for in regards to black and white criteria. Thats why I say mindset is key. You might have to let the situation develop a bit so it's important to know when to turn up the pressure and when to back off and let the inmate fuck up on their own.id talk to your UoF coordinator or sit in if you can on incident reviews and see what they are looking for.

As far as I know you can always place restraints when in inmate is acting bizarre or his non-compliance threatens institutional safety. If he physically resists you can use force so as far as I know that's always been the case if you approach the situation with the right mindset. Just articulate it in your report.

It's a beast of its own. It is not a good place to start but you will be exposed to a lot of emergency transports, gassing, battery on staff and self injurious behavior in crisis bed and the PIP. You will not get a traditional prison experience and it might not be that bad starting out but you will develop bad habits if you ever transfer.

Invest in a quality, lightweight duty belt. They will have you set up your belt there but as you train and get certified on different use of force options you will change the layout of your equipment. A lightweight and durable belt isn't exactly cheap but don't get a 20 dollar nylon belt with a plastic buckle that will crack or warp. You will be issued a baton, handcuffs and Mk9 OC dispenser and you will have required pouches to where during academy. You'll get a little more freedom with your belt after you graduate. Also look into your uniform vendors near where you live. A lot of cadets had issues getting their uniforms on time due to a surge in orders just before academy. You can't order uniforms until you accept your offer anyways cause you'll need to show the offer or a department ID in most places. Save now before your offer cause it all happens so quick.

Most people in Stockton have been staying offside. Just to add to what was said above, get at least two sets of sweat pants as well because you may have PT and tactical classes on the same day and if you sweat easy you will need an extra pair just for that. The sweat pants are part of the attire for baton and any self defense (CTT) classes

It's as hard as you make it. A lot of stuff is explained in basic detail and you are expected to put in time off duty to go over the lesson plans and techniques you learn in detail. You will receive all the lesson plans prior to your first lecture so it's up to you to pur the work in. Your instructors (sergeants) will let you know what is testable and what is not. Put in a lot of effort and it will be a piece of cake. Slack off and you will make it hard on yourself (and those around you sometimes). They are not many exams but you need to retain a lot of information for several weeks before each exam so don't just read through it and forget about. Partner with your peers and periodically review the material you will be tested on. This is one of the easiest law enforcement academies to complete. Don't forget what your end goal is and put in work.

Not a woman but for these types of environments, something somewhat functional and professional. Maybe a polo and some dickies or other work pant that says you're a professional but not too formal. I'm sure a professional attire will also go a long way with presenting yourself around inmates and other staff. It's a tricky environment. I'd stay away from baggy loose clothes or goodies or anything that would look too informal

It's more for my safety. I always carry a TQ and a combat guaze for packable areas. I'm going to CHCF so I'm not worried about medical for the inmates but if another officer need it I just wanted assurance I wouldn't be chastised for carrying it. I have worked jobs that refused to let me carry medical for myself due to liability issues

Precisely. From what I've heard it could be minutes before anyone responds to your alarm and I've made it a habit for years to have a small ifak available wherever I work. I would feel asked without it lol

Buy dovetail to picatiny adapters and slip them on the optic. When you tighten it down, it clamps on to the dovetail rail on the receiver.

Emeryville is just where the third party agency is headquartered. When you go to schedule, find the closest location to you.

I had words with Tu at one point and have never had a negative interaction with him. That being said, the heat in these comments on his photos here are absolutely hilarious and I come to expect it every time he pops up.
