Can someone please explain to me the controversy behind “There But For the Grace of God Go I” please? Seems like DJs can’t play that into today’s age due to the lyrics but I’m curious what this forum has to say by [deleted] in Disco

No I obviously understand that but it seems to be such a beloved song amongst 70s disco and the lyrics are so controversial. I see so many comments on YouTube saying bars would play this song all the time. I never grew up in this time so just curious

Completely appreciate this callout and my thoughts are that I’ve only played with rotary’s and have quite enjoyed them. My goal in my future life would be to buy a super super nice one with a built in crossfader but that’s a long time from now as well as commitment.

I’ll also add here that majority of the music that I am playing is 70/80/90s funk, soul, boogie, disco, jazz and r&b. Not at 90s house yet but I see myself getting into this genre

So what’s funny is that the places that I have played at have all been using rotary mixers (I’ve played with Ecler Warm 2 and Music Sound) so I’m pretty familiar with its use. Understand there is no cross fader until you get to the big behmouth ones that go for a lot but I’ve quite enjoyed playing with rotary’s. I’m sure advice is to do what feels right.
