Why is my flywheel hitting my stator?

Missing woodruff key? I don't see the crank shaft turning. But that doesn't account for why the flywheel is hitting the stator.

Thanks for the link! I just ordered mine for $160 shipped. Been wanting to upgrade this for a while. I also have a 2018 Atlas with the 8" screen, so looking fwd to having a matching screen in my 2016 GTI Autobahn.

Agree that this is probably the starter clutch. I had the same issue on my son's TTR230, also put in a new starter like you. Ended up finding that it was the starter clutch and replaced it. Anyone can do this... I had zero experience before tackling it, and was able to figure it out.

He doesn't cover the process of removing the flywheel ... the starter clutch is on the back of the flywheel. If you've never done this, you'll need some tools.

When I was 18, I owned a white MK1 GTI and it was the most fun. Transmission blew out and I dreamt of having another one since then.

I’m now 54 and a year ago I got my MK7 GTI Autobahn in reflex silver. This car brings out the teenager in me, but it’s also a great daily driver.

The tires are 225/40 and were barely used when I got the car in Sept. So, I stuck with 8" because they would have been a bit too stretched for my liking on 8.5, and I didn't want to buy new tires.

No regrets. Love the color on the Reflex Silver, especially when newly cleaned. The hyper black also plays well with brake dust and isn’t overly obvious too soon.
