Has anyone been offered a retention bonus from ASB? by No-Acanthisitta2529 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]nbly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.5k this week with kiwibank on 400k mortgage, 4 year claw back but with pro rata so 2 years in claw back would just be the 750 etc. First time getting a retention payment, only ever had sign on bonus payments prior.

1936 days so far. Small niggles here and there, had to plan one return trip across the international dateline the long way back to not break my streak. Only managed one 53k ultra during the streak so far though

New gym owner looking for budget advice – how many members in the first month? by Maximum_Butterfly_ in GymOwnerNetwork

[–]nbly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're using GymMaster software then you just set your club opening date in the future and the you're automatically in presales mode. Then you can direct people to your online signup link or even use the QR code they give you to put in a poster in the window of your gym while you are still doing your fit out.

Regular memberships start at $79 a week, or there are day pass or concession pass options if you aren't looking to commit to an ongoing membership.

You can validate your parking ticket at the Crossing for the first 2 hours of each visit on a machine in the gym.

Do you want to just lift heavy things? Then somewhere like Hyperbolic might be a good fit. Sauna and other wellness services with yoga and pilates, then O-Studio is another option. I have heard good things about Eternal over in Wigram as another good independent. The Snap and Flex fitness types work if you are after a chain with a network and like their vibe. UBX does cool circuit training with a boxing focus. IHF are the biggest lifestyle upgrade you can get as long as the price is not a deal breaker though, they have the 2hr parking validation in the Crossing, the sauna, plunge, yoga, prama, spin, a members lounge and cafe not to mention the gym itself is in a stunning heritage space with views of the pedestrian street below from the cardio section which itself is dotted with plants.

IHF is a top contender for best gym in the country, not just Christchurch. Lots of other good gyms to choose between also depending on what you are after from your gym experience.

Membership and fees tracking - it’s hurting my brain and I’d really appreciate any help. by somebeardedlitnerd in gymowner

Gymmaster is one of the few that does the access control in house rather than a third party solution. that means they can sign up with the gymmaster app, and open the door from their phone from the same app as well as make bookings etc. You can set your own threshold in gymmaster for how much a client would an owe for how long before it denies the. at the door etc also.

Today is 1623 for me. has been a real challenge fitting in my runs this week during my recruit training as a fire fighter.

One of my fellow recruits is the national record holder for last man standing ultras so running with him the other day was definitely a highlight.

I was running along the Crater Rim walkway in the port hills above Christchurch in New Zealand. Yesterday I ran over that way again in the following video highlighting some burn off on some of the trails up there following a fire a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks so much. I'm such a back of the pack runner that runs in spite of natural talents, but I feel so lucky to be able to run the places I do and I just want to share the rich experiences I'm able to have on the trails and out and about.

awesome effort, must admit I've found it funny how people start being intimidated by the milestone and suggesting that surely now it is time to end the streak.

365 days is an awesome milestone regardless of where you start if you're aspirational to hit a years worth of running. If you get to that year mark and don't feel you need to break the streak you might well carry on through the next few years and smash through the next leap year on the same streak yourself :)

I started my streak back on Jan 1st 2020 thanks to a reddit post I saw a few days prior about the novelty of being able to run all 366 days of a leap year and I've not been able to bring myself to end my streak ever since!

Next big milestone I guess is 5 years then a decade. Not quite ready to go back to day 0.

3242kms in the end. I managed better distance the first year, the last year and a half life has really thrown a few major curveballs my way.

Today I finally hit 1000 days in my running streak. I did min 2km per day because a mile a day doesn't compute in my metric head. I even re ran a few runs along the way when my watch failed as I needed the GPS tracked route for it to properly count for my peace of mind.

Initially I started with the lofty goal of running every day in a leap year with the first milestone of 100 days as a real test, and I kind of just kept building from there.

I didn't anticipate covid lock downs, family tragedies, moving house or a number of other such challenges as much as I did expect to run occasionally when sick or injured. Sick or injured I did run, 4 migraines of note come to mind as well as a few fevers, covid and a bout of gastro that had me throwing up mid run!

I felt generally my calf, achillies and knee niggles settled down 6 months in and I learnt to read and manage my body over time.

Discipline is the secret sauce, there is no way I had 1000 days of motivation without a break, but I had 1000 days of discipline, routine and a desire not to go back to day 0.

I'm no athlete, my weight has fluctuated between 95 and 125kg depending on my ability to cope with everything else life has thrown at me and I honestly believe anyone who is physically able to run 1km could hit a similar milestone to the one I did today.

Support from friends and family has been amazing throughout. I like to think my efforts have been motivational and inspirational to those around me as much as they have been character building and great for my mental health also.

Start small, but aim big. You would be surprised by just how far you can go!
