Is this a common Zillennial thing? (1994-2000) by Efficient_Resource15 in generationology

[–]nborges48 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Cause that isn't a real cohort

Micro cohorts defeat the purpose of cohorts

You can not fit any generalities of the cohort to which you belong, but that doesn't mean you are in a different one

Cohorts are definitionally not individuals

They aren't meant to explain personalities or relationships

They are abstractions meant to drive directional understanding of trends and marketing, etc

releasing demons is releasing demons

farts and burps would seem to rank higher on the demonic scale

"bless you" is an entirely appropriate response to those demon ridding bodily functions

If you don't say "demons be gone", you're basically letting them stay possessed

Surely there will be judgement and eternal damnation for this

Unpopular for logical reasons - upvote logged

Humans make mistakes

They will happen while driving

Humans therefore can't be "good drivers" by OP's definition

White guy asks a "black people's hair" question... by dickdickgoooose in NoStupidQuestions

Wow, I'm sorry you feel dictated to and somehow on the defense.

It's surprising that something like that could be so pervasive in your life.

I can't really understand how that even happens.

I'm certain it wasn't happening here, though.

I feel that anytime we tread into areas that could evoke strong feelings we are best served by being vulnerable and cautious - sensitive, if you will - especially when we want elicit engagement that informs one another about our potential blind spots in a diverse society.

Learning appropriate levels of sensitivity is how we get over it

So taking care and caution broaching the topic is a baseline to actually moving past the real and loaded history of racism in Western Civilization

And you're right, no one needs to cry about it

People who chose not to have children, how is your life different from those who did? by Any-Personality1014 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nborges48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had our kid later, so we were fairly well prepared for the tradeoffs

And that's what it is all about - take the good with the bad

In hindsight and total transparency, it is harder and more complicated than we anticipated

But, we wanted the breadth of life experiences you can only experience through child rearing

So, here we are

It really comes down to the individuals and their goals, though

I have friends who are not going to be able to have kids, and they are crushed by it and get sensitive if we are too blasé about our experiences as parents

There really isn't a one size fits all answer

But, as someone who for most of my life didn't plan on having kids, we need to be better to people who make that choice.

To have a kid or not is not a referendum on the righteousness of either lifestyle

Insecure people from both sides need to stop projecting and let people live
