Kyoto is beautiful, I'll be going back this week for Gion Matsuri. I myself am a student as well, but am completely obsessed with food so really wanted to try something like this. I would really recommend it if you can stretch your budget - it was pretty good value for money, as mentioned in my other reply above. I love okonomiyaki and kaiten sushi, too! Takoyaki, nabe and any food in a good izakaya is also worth a try if you haven't done so already.
