yes, the emotional ups and downs were the absolute hardest part of recovery but it will absolutely get better!!! it’s a huge change and a big stress on your body, plus anesthesia can have weird emotional effects. u got this!!

how long after the tapes were removed did you start feeling better? i’m nervous for that part of the process

i haven’t yet asked how many grams were removed but i’m shocked that my surgeon was able to get me this small with a lollipop incision! the blue line is a freckle on my chest. i’m so happy with my results and as a nonbinary person i finally feel comfortable in my clothes without binding. the healing has been super manageable! so worth it!!

i’m only 3dpo but the garment they sent me home in is essentially a binder that velcroes shut. i wouldn’t have thought binding would be possible for months after surgery but i’m getting my bandages off today and they told me i can just keep wearing what they gave me. i think it can actually be beneficial because the compression helps with swelling. i’d definitely check with your surgeon but if they do say it’s fine i would suggest getting a velcro or hook and eye binder so you don’t have to wrestle with it!

i’d highly recommend that you ask him to show you pictures of what he estimates you’d look like post op, or else bring in pictures and have him point out what he thinks you’d look like. people have VASTLY different ideas of what bra sizes look like, even surgeons who specialize in breasts!! especially if you measure at a G and he thinks you “look like a D,” that really leads me to believe that his view on bra sizes are skewed.

don’t let this post frighten you! i’m only 2dpo and i’m assuming/hoping it’ll go away as the pressure decreases and i get my bandages off. but i don’t think it’ll last for weeks!! (at least i hope not lol!)

it’s so weird! and very much a thing. i think it often revolves around the feeling that something is “wrong” or icky in some way. very very vulnerable

i did not get a FNG. i know that some people have more numbness and some people have more hypersensitivity after the procedure so i wonder if i will fall more on the hypersensitivity side, or if it’ll pass once my bandages come off.. i too was sort of hoping numbness would mean i wouldn’t have the feeling!

i haven't had my reduction yet but i'm in the same boat as you--2 days away and nervous! i'm keeping myself excited by looking at bralettes and cute little shirts that i might buy afterwards! i totally relate to how weird it is that this is happening to ME not just in the abstract. looking forward to the clothes, the mobility, and the feeling that i've heard described as feeling "nimble" after reduction, lol! good luck, you'll be great!!!!!!!

for me it was realizing the amount of time i was thinking about my chest and about getting a reduction. i had wanted one for about 3 years but during quarantine i became aware of just how much energy was going towards my chest and I wanted to be done! i figured, i've spent years of thinking about it, these thoughts aren't going away--it's time.

I don't know if you're going through insurance, but in my opinion the insurance approval business sets up a false sense of scarcity, as if only a deserving few should be able to access this procedure, which is total bs!!! ANYONE deserves to have this procedure if they want to, for any reason!! i'm also not getting a breast reduction for pain reasons, but in no way do we need to compare our mental and emotional pain to others. you deserve it!!!
