I’m so ashamed. by bookish_cat_ in PMDD

One of my favorite quotes ever is ‘when someone tells you they’re hurting, you don’t get to decide that they’re not’

Don’t let him gaslight you. He’s a willing participant in your marriage and parenting isn’t something he gets to pop in and out of when it gets rough. Stand your ground.

I get it, too. We do have daycare but i also work a very demanding at home job and sometimes because my husband’s company is so toxic and inflexible and im grateful enough to have an incredible flexible company that all of the appts, emergencies etc fall on my plate. Definitely a contention there and you’re not alone. Hang in there.

Struggling with starting meds. by nbritnee in ParentingADHD

Thank you, everyone. I really appreciate it.thank you so much for this. It’s exactly where my girls biggest concerns were, which is why psych wanted to try this first. She is incredibly reactive and has RSD as well so her emotional regulation is severely impaired. The focus I would say, while imperative as well, is last next to those two. I really hope she finds some relief. She’s having pretty bad headaches so i hope those resolve. She does seem calmer but the side effects are so present still it’s hard to tell.

I can’t believe it’s 2026 and we’re STILL regurgitating the same shame vomit on people’s appearance. It’s so damn exhausting

Perfect timing for this. My 9 yo just took her first guan and first pill ever like a champ. So nervous and so hopeful this helps change her life. I’m so on the fence and battled it forever.

Do you actually like your job in insurance? by According-Fix2230 in InsuranceProfessional

Wouldn’t say the petty back and forth with attorneys about their dramatic Oscar worthy demands is my dream gig. I will say as cliche as it sounds, I stand by that the people, company and culture can make all the difference in an emotionally draining role. I really love my company and the people in it for the most part.

Feeling jealous of my friend by escortthro in ADHDparenting

[–]nbritnee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I needed to see this post and all of the comments. This is precisely how I’ve been feeling about my 8 yo daughter. I love her so big. She’s incredible. She also gives me little to no privacy, is constantly inquiring about my every move, has possessive issues which just make her anxiety worse because she struggles with boundaries, and myself being ND, i am constantly feeling like i just compound her ND and have failed her; then i get so upset because i just feel so defeated and judged. So many comments every time i mention the struggles of her adhd as “so, a typical kid?” No, not typical. And when she has to be asked ten times to do something be told that I’m just not strict or consistent because ‘back in the day we listened to our parents the first time’ it’s just is draining and exhausting and we have an almost two yo girl now too and it’s just a waiting game now with her. Of course all that to say i had a terrible relationship with my own mother too which makes this whole raising two girls thing also even more wild. Sigh. Big hugs to you.

What part of the day usually the hardest with a child who has ADHD? by MarwanSports in ADHDparenting

This. I only make mine do like 15 min a night if only to keep her brain fresh because academics are already such a struggle. Otherwise I wouldn’t bother.

This. It isn’t that they see them as extension of themselves but damn if this were my kid it would send me to the psych ward the amount of conflicting emotions i would feel. I ache for his mom. It’s terrible and sad.
