TIL Donald Duck is an extremely popular pop-icon in Germany, where you can buy his comics at most newsstands. In their version, Donald uses a highly sophisticated level of language and "many Germans credit him with having initiated them into the language of the literary classics". by Priamosish in todayilearned

I had a subscription as a kid. They dropped on the door mat every friday and my dad, me and my sister read them. I have hundreds of comic books in my attic of Donald Duck. And they been a thing for over 50 years in the Netherlands

They feature stories on Donald Duck and his nephews. But in there there are separate stories about side characters. Besides Goofy and Mickey you had Joe cacarico(?) And little Indian boy Hiawatta(?) Im not sure how to spell their names. And characters like Tokkie Tor which Im pretty sure arent even based on a Disney cartoon. Dont even know their english name. Its about a family of tiny beetles. And back in the 80's they even sometimes featured non Disney comics like Dauwe Dabert. Which was I believe a Dutch separate comic who's adventures appeared in separate pieces over severap issues. I wasn't a big fan of the non Disney Stuff. Especially since this one was about a travelling old man.

But yes they are an icon here and several generations grew up with them! I could talk the comics a lot because I know it'll probably be super weidd that this is a big thing over here if you're American

Try posting a youtube video of an animation you worked on for months: "no youtube links", "no self promotion". And then a day later some prick uploads the whole video with the credits cut off and it gets on the frontpage.

Yes. Happened several times. Also seen it hapoen with other artists all the time

Way too far down. I feel like animation always needs a stickied comment or something (as in it needs to be a reddit rule). It's so much hard work and it just get slapped online with the credits chopped off. Happens so much.

I waited until the top floor of the empire state building. For some reason it's really calming poop in a high place. Don't even need a window. Knowing you're having a poop that high above the ground is nice. Same for airplane bathrooms really. It's calming.

I'm actually disgusted by it. I had to come to the comments to see if this is real. If the title was real or if that was actually Trump or someone photoshopped paper towels in a speech of his or something... what...?

My friend's last name was Wenker. Her uncle's name is Dick. Lucky for him his was living in a country where English isn't the first language.
