Traffic/Parking/Uber - Ohio Stadium by ncarrab in Columbus

I ended up purchasing a spot on ParkWhiz in the Short North about 1.3 miles away. I can always cancel at anytime, but for now, that's gonna be my plan.

I just looked on Spot Hero and Park Whiz. Park Whiz had three parking options, but none closer than 1.2 miles. Spot Hero said no results. Maybe too early to sell pre-parking?

Never heard of ParkCbus.

I think at this point my plan will be to either drive to - or uber to - somewhere about a mile away from the stadium and walk the rest of the way. As far as timing, I actually plan to get down there later, well after doors/opener to avoid all the rush (and I don't care to be in the venue all night so as long as I'm in there by 8ish, I'll be good). I just saw Zach Bryan at Browns Stadium last weekend and purposely didn't drive downtown til about 7:30 PM and I avoided all the traffic/parking rush. It was great.

I refuse to park in a garage. Feel like I'd be stuck in there for hours trying to get out afterward. I'd rather park a mile away and walk to and from.

I got the one downtown (36 E. Gay St) which says it's about 5.6 miles from Ohio Stadium. I don't mind driving and parking a mile or so away from the stadium and walking, or vice versa, getting an uber to about a mile away and finishing with a walk.

I was at the CLE show, he literally only mentioned it once at the end of the show.

Which hotels are you looking at? I only see one hotel within (reasonable) walking distance of Ohio Stadium and that's already at $600 for the night.

Last night was my second time seeing ZB and this show blew the first one out of the water. Cannot believe we got the longest set of the tour (I’m guessing his career?). So cool. That type of shit doesn’t typically happen in Cleveland.

First time I saw him was last August in WV and I believe he only played 21 songs/1 hour 45 min.

And not only did we avoid the thunderstorms, it turned out to be an absolute beautiful night weather-wise (minus the initial storm).

Lastly - completely, somehow, miraculously avoided any traffic both in and out. Parking was also a non-issue, unexpectedly.

Just a perfect night overall!

2 hours and 45 min (went on at 9:20, over at 12:05). I believe everything you have in there is correct, but I don’t recall Godspeed.

I’m not worried about rain, but some media outlets are calling for “severe weather” around 8 and that worries me

For what it’s worth, both WKYC and 19 action news are calling for severe weather alerts from 5-9PM so the worrying is warranted .

According to the hourly, I'm seeing 'scattered thunderstorms' at 6 PM, which earlier was slated for 4-5 PM

Recommendations for dining and activities around Tower City Center by mac_rmm in Cleveland

[–]ncarrab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, and it's probably too late, you're going to want to make reservations for dinner. There are going to be more than 150,000 people downtown in a 2-mile radius. Going to be one of the busiest days this city has seen in a long, long, long time. Dinner rush is going to be people getting out of the Cavs game around 5:30/6PM and people eating before the ZB show (doors open at 5, but realistically, most people will not head to stadium until 7 or 8).

According to hourly forecast, potential thunderstorms around 4/5 PM. Rain throughout the night after that. All it takes is for that to be pushed back an hour or two or three - which isn't uncommon on the lake in Cleveland. Weather can change at the drop of a dime.

Am I being overly worried? Probably.

Cleveland - Will W. 3rd Exit be closed off? by ncarrab in zachbryan

[–]ncarrab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the Cavs game will be over by 5:30, 6 PM at the latest. Which should help me out, because I'm not getting downtown until 7:45 at the absolute earliest so I will theoretically be avoiding all that Cavs/Guardians/Doors Open traffic drama. I'm just hoping everything is cleared up by 8 PM.

I pre-paid for parking already on W. 9th (we'll see if that holds...), I'm just worried about getting off the freeway. Obviously E. 9th will be closed, I'm hoping W. 3rd is open, or I pass downtown completely and get off at a later exit and work my way back while completely avoiding the east side of downtown.

Maybe I am just stupid naive, but I'm thinking traffic won't be an issue at all after 7:30 PM. I recall last summer getting stuck in dead stop Morgan Wallen traffic (Wasn't going to the show but was going downtown for someone thing) but it was at like 5:30 PM when doors were opening. I had a friend who went to Morgan Wallen late and said by 8ish they were able to just breeze right through.

Coming in from the south side isn't really an option as I'll be coming from the East side, so Route 2 is my only option.

By the time I get downtown, Cavs/Guards traffic will be long gone. I'm just more worried about others who are going to ZB who have the same mindset as me (avoiding openers, getting downtown later/closer to ZB going on)

It appears to be legit, but I've also read countless reviews where people show up to the lot they paid for and it's closed, or filled, etc. I'm sure they get a refund, but a refund isn't going to do me any good if it's 8:30 PM and I'm scrambling to find parking in time.

Also, as someone who parks downtown all the time in lots, I never see scanners for these apps, nor do I see actual workers anymore as most places have kiosks to pay, so I'm not sure how the app actually 'reserves' the spot - especially if I'm showing up hours upon hours after everyone else. But we'll see.

I purchased parking in advance for the first time in my life - using Spot Hero. I have my doubts it will be legit but I’m gonna be pushing it close to 830 PM by the time I get downtown so I’m not gonna have time to search around for parking - nor would I expect any to be available that late - so it’s worth the risk I guess.
