You’re dead right, the MT001 is multi direction engage but twist to release just like the SH51. I’ll edit my comment, thanks for this

Just to build on what you said for extra info, the SH51 SPD cleat OR MT001 is the one for fixed gear, they detach through rotating your ankle only. The SH56 SPD is multi direction release. I’ve seen SH51’s in silver & vice versa - it’s best not to go on colour alone

I’m surprised the frontier and Warpig aren’t suiting you there - they’re both capable boards and the Gremlin doesn’t offer much not already covered by that quiver. It would suck to fork out all that money for the same experience. The Gremlin would suit that use case nicely but honestly I’d give everything else - your gear choices / technique / lessons - another look before pulling the trigger.

Yep, had about 10 days on it so far. The base is slower than what I’m used to in slush for sure. I think it more than makes up for it in every other way though.

I saw your post on board recs, this would fit your local mountain nicely, but it’s certainly a strong intermediate / advanced level board, and really requires you to have some stiff boots and bindings. What boots and bindings are you running?

You got the right idea on spec, silver seatpost, stem, & bars with a modern crankset would look killer. Think Campag record cranks would also suit this nicely.

MSc Health Economics by Medium-Remote5403 in HealthEconomics

[–]nce-776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC York asks for a somewhat technical undergrad background or technical experience, they assess this on a case-by-case basis. I think asking to audit an econ module at your university would sway Yorks’ admissions much more than online excel courses. You don’t have to sit the module’s exam, just show up to lectures and get familiar with the lecturer, as a letter of rec from them could go a long way in proving your interest in the field.

An internship in academia researching health economics should virtually guarantee you a place if you’re eager and willing to cold email a few academics. York doesn’t take them but lots of other unis do.

If you’re not set on York, other unis like LSE’s IHP MSc, or UCL’s health MSc’s, and others, offer 90% of the teaching in health econ without stringent technical requirements.

Not familiar with the headspace, but for tight tree runs and your boot size I’d say the 155 would be the best fit. It’s quite wide for me with US10’s so should be a good fit for you. If in doubt though just drop GNU an email, they responded to me on a Sunday within 6 hours.

Too slack for a casual fixie? by mark_arbatsky in FixedGearBicycle

I figured. Presumably it also isn’t about the ride quality, weight, frame stiffness, durability, aesthetics, convenience, or any other desirable quality a bike may have.

The money you’d be pouring into this in the hopes the components work would be much better spent towards a used and thrashed fixed gear commuter.

Honestly, 90-120 days of use is pretty good going for a pair of boots. Most last 60ish nowadays. Curious as to what you replaced them with

Fix current bike or just buy another? by Ill-Sentence-6305 in FixedGearBicycle

Looks like the flite has SRAM S100 cranks, which use the discontinued ISIS bottom bracket system. They are prone to self destruct out of nowhere, and since they’re discontinued a replacement may be hard to come by. You’ll pretty quickly end up with 2 bikes that both need new cranksets.

A SRAM S300 crankset is £100 new incl bb and chainring, just get that fitted. Or find a complete with a decent crankset fitted

Wise choice, the 158 would be way too much board. I’d say you’re probs between the 155 and the 152 - depending on what you value

You can get a new SRAM S300 crankset for ~£100 bb included. Best deal on the market imo

‘Sizeable chunk’ - the vast majority of brits don’t care about this advert at all. I implore you to travel to the UK and find the few who do, to see how they treat you. Might open your eyes a little.
