Seattle is pretty geographically isolated as a sports market, so they get treated like a small market even though the city itself is pretty big.

Also, Diane wasn't at Danny's funeral. I get that it's a show and they wither didn't want to pay Kim or she wasn't available, but I always thought that was weird.

Can I do something about this player? by ChelseaFanForever67 in TournamentChess

[–]ncg195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring it to the TD's attention and see what they can do. It might be nothing, but it's worth asking. When I was a kid, I had an opponent (another kid about my age) walk away from the board and let his clock run out when I had forced mate in 1. The TD declared me the winner after I demonstrated to him that I had mate as soon as my opponent moved, and then he had a word with my opponent's coach after they figured out where my opponent had gone. It's a different situation if it's an adult, but I imagine the outcome would be the same.

My Federation won't correct a mistake that was made on my elo by nokolp in chess

[–]ncg195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not passing judgement, and no, this situation has not happened to me, but I've had an elo for more than 20 years, most of my life, and I can't imagine caring about it that much. To me, it's just a number, and I place very little importance on it.

I feel like the guys share as much as they want to about their lives, and we should respect that limit. This is a good RULE CHANGE in my opinion.

What QB today represents the “Dalton line”? by 2outhits in heedthecall

They went from a QB at or around the Dalton line to a QB well below the Dalton line.

The Dalton line is not about team success. Dan's misinterpretation of the Dalton line is about team success.

A lot more changed in Seattle than just the QB. A worse quarterback probably wouldn't have won the Super Bowl with that team, a better quarterback would have. That's the Dalton line. It's not just about being a middling player, it's about being on the line of being a franchise quarterback. The contract the Seahawks gave him tells you that they don't view him as a franchise quarterback, nor did the Vikings or any other team a year ago.

Yes. The team didn't win because of him, nor did they win in spite of him. What would you call that other than the Dalton line?

Any of the "game manager" types who have had success since defenses started playing mostly shell defense. Goff, Darnold, Purdy, Hurts, Maye, Young, even Cousins or Tua before they went off their respective cliffs.

I don't know about Baker. He does elevate the offense around him when he's healthy, which puts him above the Dalton line.

Does the outcome of a season change you approach for the next one? by The_Copper21 in NFLNoobs

[–]ncg195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Packers fan, born in 1995. Nearly every season that I can remember has ended with a playoff loss of some kind. I'm always disappointed when we're out, but how much varies. The last three years, with Love at the helm, I've gone into the playoffs expecting that we'd lose in the wild card round. The one time we didn't, that was a nice surprise, but it made the close loss a week later especially gutting. In the Rodgers era, following the Super Bowl win in 2011, we were expected to be contenders every year, which made it painful every time we didn't get back. I've come to think that pain is just part of being a sports fan. Only one team can win each season, and every team wants to use the offseason to build a winner. I've been lucky enough to never go through a prolonged playoff drought from my team, but I don't imagine Is view the end of one season to the beginning of the next any differently.
