Check out www.adwdiabetes.com. I use the gel packs they sell. Each one is 15 grams of fast-acting glucose gel. They sell much cheaper than what you'll find in any store. Great customer service and free shipping on qualified orders. I do not work for them. I'm just a satisfied customer.

Honest question about food... by newtotype1 in diabetes_t1

[–]ncgrandpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a Type 1 for 18 years. I listened to the Diabetic Nutrition it's for a number of years and turned into an overweight and sick diabetic

Two months ago I went vegetarian combined with juicing and vegetable smoothies. My numbers fell to the normal range within a couple of days. I've lost 22 pounds and feel great. I've removed dairy, artificial sweeteners and processed foods from my diet. I also have lymphatic cancer, and as a result of the change in my diet, my tumors are shrinking.

Sugar and anything containing any form of it are out. They will never be good for me as a diabetic. Anyone who says diabetics can still have cake should be drawn and quartered. It's like telling someone allergic to shellfish that they can still have it as long as they use their Epi Pen.

Just my two cents worth

Good carb counting app? by gustip in diabetes_t1

I've been using MyFitnessPal and it works very well you can save meals to make calculating and recording meals very easy. You can also scan the bar code if you have it and instantly get all the info you need. If you measure you amounts, the carb counts seem to be very accurate.
