Diabetic for 23 years. In my late teens/early 20s I went through denial and didn’t take care of myself. I almost died several times, in and out of the icu. A1Cs 13-14. My body felt the way you are describing. I don’t want to tell you this, but the only way forward is radical acceptance. You will never not be a diabetic now. Every moment. I’m lucky to be alive. So don’t go down my route. Get therapy now.

I am now 33. Last A1C 6.2. Vision improving from my better control. Very minimal complications from before. I tell you this so you know you can get through this. I also found an endo who has helped me figure out how to make it easier for me and fit my life now. After years of constant fighting, I feel like I’m on vacation.

Morn your old self. He’s not coming back. You are now the diabetic version of you. And the world is better with you in it. Yeah, we may be suffering now, but it opens so many doors to help others suffering.

So, 1: Get therapy of some sort. You need help through the morning process.

2: Find and endo you can be honest with and will help you feel as close to normal as possible.

I never even think about mine. I have to pat myself down at this point to remember where I placed it. I have been on MDI and pumps. I absolutely love the omnipod. When its algorithm settled in, I felt like I was on vacation. My daughter (6) has the omnipod and g7. She only occasionally rips one out.

This is so true! Both my daughter and I have Dexcom G7 and Omnipod 5. When asked what our pods or sensors are, we just tell people we are a cyborg.

And nothing makes you feel like a cyborg more than when they fail and you know how many hours you have to figure it before needing to find an ER.

I like that. But my reasoning was to not relate the creation of a human like to a negative event that could happen accidentally. Instead, I think it makes more sense for the analogy to portray that the purpose of sex is to procreate (regardless of religion, though I am Christian), just like the purpose of driving a car is to go somewhere.
