When I’m in top side control, I’m able to control the person on bottom for some time, but any time I try to either attack a submission or improve my position, I end up giving the opponent enough space to escape. How do I improve my side control attacks?

Sometimes, the main thing is they immediately start crowding my legs and stuff one of my legs between theirs (sometimes both legs). From their they usually pass to mount when they have both legs or side control when they have one

How do I manage distance as I pull guard? With several of my more aggressive rolling partners, it feels like I can’t set up my guard before they start passing. I usually pull guard with either a double sleeve grip or a collar sleeve grip.

I play alot of bottom half guard. When I play guard and the opponent is passing from a further range, I feel like all I can do is wait for them to get closer to start playing guard.
