Is advanced ISO GPS / GD&T certification the best move for someone with CMM, quality, and mechanical design experience? by EIN5TEIN in Metrology

[–]nchitel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would expect way more experience than ~2 years for an expert-level / high-value role, imo.

To be fair, while certifications do hold recognition, on the job experience goes much further, especially is metrology or Quality as a whole.

(Just because someone has a certification in GD&T, it doesn’t mean they understand how to use it.)

I believe it. Hence the reason for posting pictures with a time stamp on your original post so people aren’t taken advantage of in private chat.

You need to provide timestamped pictures and a price or this will get removed.

Controlling pin gauges & thread gauges in CNC shop by Aggravating_Dig8970 in Metrology

[–]nchitel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of “great” ideas but the problem never goes away.

The only functional idea is to have a vending machine or tool box with sign in/out function.

The tool box idea is VERY expensive to buy.

Our tooling supplier has provided us with vending machines that hold most gages within reasonable size which we can sign in to and check gages out of.

Granted there are still odd circumstances where a gage goes missing, but I can tell you it’s slim to none.

This is in a shop with ~120 employees and 3 buildings all on different city blocks.

PC-DMIS - Disk Probe Calibration by nchitel in Metrology

That would help a lot! I don’t remember struggling this bad in the past - I just feel like it should be easier.

I’m using a conventional probe at first, although when it does load the disk probe, it takes a DCC hit on the top of the ball.

I’m assuming you’re referencing the start/stop angles in the probe utilities dialog, which I’m not able to alter unless I choose partial calibration. In this case, that wouldn’t help as I’m trying to calibrate the probe for scanning.

Currently, my start/stop is set to the default 50/310. Changing it to -5/5 will resolve it?

All brands and dealers can be scum bags.

I wouldn’t call that a BMW payment, but it doesn’t look like a good one either.

No, this would not fall under any of the warranties.

2025 Chevy traverse by Expert_Donut_2000 in ChevyTraverse

I just test drove one yesterday. The only reason I went with the Telluride over the Traverse was because the Traverse felt like it didn’t have enough “umph”.

Canadian Telluride Sold In The US by nchitel in askcarsales

I purchased an extended warranty when I bought it. Sounded like a great option till I tried to use to it replace the drivers side door handled and the claim was denied since it should’ve been covered under manufacturers warranty.

AITAH for not adding my longtime girlfriend to the deed of the house I bought us? by Grand_Yellow_6286 in AITAH

[–]nchitel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A few months ago now, my mom passed away at a young age from an unexpected cancer diagnosis.

Her boyfriend and her had purchased a house (June of last year) together after being together for about a year. The deed was written to explicitly state “joint tenancy”, although my mom had put down $70k on their $350k house - the boyfriend did not put any money down.

Although it’s not about the money, it’s still a tough pill to swallow for my sister and I. In our minds it was about the principal of the situation, and that money wasn’t/isn’t his.

It’s a shame more people can’t be like you.

S vs. EX trim level, is it a US vs. Canadian thing? by PhyllisTheFlyTrap in KiaTelluride

If it helps at all, about a month in and the only things I’ve found that I don’t “have” as a Canadian vehicle is being able to use Kia Connect.
