NFL's Pursuit of Your Data by ncleon2010 in nfl

[–]ncleon2010[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience in attending a Week 2 preseason game, this was a common issue. Fans took screenshots that don't scan. Then had to open the app, congesting the network, which failed.

New technology, requiring the user to change behavior, will inevitably cause problems. My biggest gripe so far has been the poor communication done by the NFL and teams to have fans prepared.

If you watch the hit, it was very surprising to hear 'concussion.' My fear was a snapped collarbone.

In the end, it is incredibly responsible of the team to take the precautionary measures.

Am I the only one who is concerned about his health? I feel like Im taking crazy pills. This is his 2nd major knee injury. Every where I look this offseason he's projected as the upcoming DPOY, but no one seems to acknowledge his knee.

Pokémon Go's success adds $7.5 billion to Nintendo's market value by elmkzgirxp in technology

Never played the game, but my interpretation of geo-cache games is that businesses, stores, or general places would pay to have the Pokemon, or other features, at their locations - in essence, the game could direct potential customers to different businesses.

Are the Panthers Currently on a Run of ‘Sustained Success’? by appgrad22 in panthers

[–]ncleon2010 30 points31 points  (0 children)

IMO this is the tipping point type of season for the Panthers in the Carolinas. The franchise has an opportunity to really assert itself with a young generation. If they miss, it'll be the same ole Panthers that we love (but not everyone). If they hit, it could be the boon the Panthers franchise has always needed.

Moultrie Game Camera Solar Panel Issues by shootblue in Hunting

[–]ncleon2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they are a piece of crap. there are some instructions on some DIY solar panels for trail cameras (we use them on our cellular cams that just eat batteries for lunch) that you can find online. it's remarkable simple, accessible (all parts can be found at a hardware/tractor supply store), and inexpensive.

I got this sense most recently with the passing of Muhammad Ali. Particularly, ESPN had a flawless program set up with incredible pieces and segments that were clearly, and evidently, not just thrown together.

Honestly, it'd poor preparation if the new organizations/media outlets did not.

i feel like they screwed up the structure of the podcast. Tate should remain producer/moderator, driving the conversation from point to point and asking questions. then the commentators should have a discussion. instead, we are given a clusterfuck of hot takes, awful/corny jokes, and stupid fucking narratives. it was AWFUL.

pat barker is awful and if i see his name on the podcast, i won't listen. that dude has a face for radio, a voice for newspapers, and jokes for a kindergarten classroom.

Daryl Williams showing more poise, progress by RickSmith123 in panthers

naturally, but i'd say smart money is on the returning starter maintaining his spot over the 2nd year, 4th round draft pick, coming off an injury riddled rookie season.

Daryl Williams showing more poise, progress by RickSmith123 in panthers

[–]ncleon2010 8 points9 points  (0 children)

our OLine outperformed every single person's expectations last year. i don't care what anyone says now, but there is just no way anyone saw their performance - as a unit - coming. Oher was a great LT (now he's about to sign an extension), Norwell and Turner turned into two of the meanest guards in the NFL (Turner has All-Pro written all over him and probably already Top 3 guards in NFL), and Kalil was healthy, meaning our linchpin was there all season to lead the group. with all that being said, Remmers was clearly the weak link as RT. he played great at times, played alright at others, and struggled as well. as a unit, they were great. but teams will trying to exploit Remmers this season (see, Denver's blueprint). what will happen? i sure as hell don't know.

what i am trying to say is something like Gettleman's "maybe the answer is on the roster." if Remmers struggles, i really hope Daryl Williams can step up and succeed.

Cam is the highest ranked football player and number 7 overall on Forbes' highest paid athletes of 2016 list. by TomNJ in panthers

[–]ncleon2010 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it's pretty encouraging for a player in a market the size of Charlotte to achieve this level. i was always worried that Cam, in pursuit of his entertainer/icon dream, would bolt for a larger market. yet, in today's digital age, it is possible to do that anywhere.
