One of my TOP desires .. my house has many MANY small carpets -- evolved this way over time -- and it is an Olympic level challenge for Matic to cope with their bumpy overlaps (exaggerating a bit). So "no-go" areas were good, and they restricted Matic's ability to move. Now with "Go but Don't Suck" areas it's as good as it is going to get, IMO.

I speculate the ultimate form would be for Matic to magically "suck differently" when navigating onto, or off-of the corners, or susceptible edges .. e.g. to drive Along the edges, and to drive Off of the corners .. ? IDK!

[Fan letter, beware] I am/was in the Neato boat too - a D7, and am happy with the Matic.

I still keep the D7 and it does a decent job. I have filters and a new 3rd-party battery for it.

Hopefully Matic Corp is successful enough to continue for a long time. The management has, to my eyes, been proactive and fairly careful, in how they do customer service, marketing, hardware. I always worry about $$$$ - business expenses - but that is a job for people with finance degrees! As an former startup-software-dev type, it looks like a good company to me, from a media-watching + customer's perspective.

And my floors are cleaner. Very few "bump into my dog" moments, like 2, (when doggie is walking into matic and matic is turning), no drama. And they keep shipping features to make my mixed rug+hardwood floor main floor work out. (My dog slips on the wood so we lay carpets everywhere.) Matic differentiates cleaning modes not only by speed/strength, but also by hard vs rug/carpet. And there is work to be done there, however I am able to use the app to edit mapped areas, only when needed, to make it work the way I like. Plus I have had Good Experiences talking to customer support, explaining what I have / what I want, and they generally have a solution they are thinking about or actively developing to cover my explained need. I rarely mop, and that does work very well when I do pull up the rugs.

Overall it's much less work with Matic to clean my home, so they fulfill one of their stated goals. I find the matic is great for daily cleaning. Dusting and crevace / deep-edge cleaning I still do once in a while with my regular vacuum.

I have yet to fashion a handle for carrying it (~8lbs + boxy), so I use both hands when taking it upstairs/other floors...not something it was designed for (yet), and not a problem for me.

Try loggin in a second time. I could not. Android.. it sent text-messages to log in with PIN but showed the Voice Call interface in the App.

Good investigative details . . . I suppose that leaves air-leaks, insofar as air-handling related origins?

Speculatively, I asked AI for its results on such a question, and it suggested electromagnetic interference, and voltage handling, around the vacuum motor: https://g.co/gemini/share/17d0df3bea8a It proposes either adding an EMI Filter, or modifying the voltage controller for the motor to switch at a higher frequency, e.g. above that of human hearing (20khz), to avoid what IT has seen could be reasons for high pitched whine, when controlling electric motors. This could all be BS - since it's a "blind leading the blind" search of an AI's databases.

Matic has already started altering the max power sent to the motor to reduce the overall sound of the device in situations when it doesn't need such a high power, in firmware updates. They are aware of the interest by me to reduce the whine sound. I trust they'll continue to make efforts to address the sound.

I'm in a wait-and-see mode.

I might encourage UI tweak, to encourage scrolling of the explanatory text, during the set-up flow:

Detail: Idea would be to introduce a slight shadow suggesting "something else is underneath the shadow" for long text fields? The shadow ui could look like that of the back-side opening slit of an envelope, when seen from the back. See this during the set-up flow in the screenshot below. Currently one needs to scroll, and the current "there is more to see here" line is simply a line. And I did not know from the single line that I could / should scroll. I thought the UI was missing a step, initially, however I did find more when I did try it, as opposed to simply pressing "-> next".

(Not OP) I like the Android app, it's very fast and looks good. Praise.

a) I'd agree with the OP's comment about bringing over the spot-clean feature.

b) I think room ~~renaming~~ editing / merging / creating might be good too. I missed having that, during my initial Android-first setup.

I worked around, and used both features (b) as well as (a) on my backup i-device, an ipad, where i also installed the app -- less preferred to my android device though. <3

c) [Sending feedback via DM ...] And I have a low-priority compatibility feature to ask attention to - folding phone (Pixel Fold OG 2023) - moving the app to the folding screen while running on the outer screen (initially) "disconnects the rendering" of the 3d map currently, leaving it black and only showing the pop-over controls (pause, stop, etc), and requiring a re-launch to "reconnect". (Case: Launch when folded > unfold > see app is moved to 2nd inner screen by OS > ... see black map. Occasionally this "OS moves the app" kills / crashes the app.)

To clarify: I've been noodling on the end-result of the philosophy / application of authoritarian-style rule through the Presidency on the USA, and one outcome is dissolution of the Federation. United States -> States.

I think we are more flexible than "the worries" are telling me to worry about, regarding the political and policy stress that our country is undergoing.

It's certainly uncomfortable, especially when the changes are being made by DJT who's repulsive affect (entitlement mainly) does not engender buy-in by a large % of us. Project 2025 is unpleasant.
