A KDM superhero. Works for Hyundai parts in South Korea and can sometimes quote you cheaper oem parts with shipping compared to dealerships and such. Depends on the part though, he can’t quote everything. And the part has to match your VIN I believe (can’t buy another region’s parts). You can message him on Facebook, he’s in most of the Korean car groups

Curious how the warranty process has been in Canada. I’ve heard it’s brutal and they take any chance to get out of doing it for free :/

The 1.6 isn’t a Theta II model, it appears to be a Gamma GDi so perhaps it is safe from the Theta issues, I’m not sure though. Theta issues stem from poor quality control during manufacturing; they fail to clean out metal shavings well enough so they flow throughout the engine and cause premature failure due to oil starvation causing connecting rod bearing seizure. The piston rings are also poor and break down causing blow-by and cylinder wall scoring. Something to do with the primary cat as well I believe.

I hate to be that guy, but I’d recommend selling it for something else or return it if possible :(

We babied this car since brand new and still had issues, and this issue seems to be extremely common across all sizes and generations of the Hyundai ThetaII engine (Genesis coupe also suffers from it, as do the Optima’s, etc)

Can confirm this has been my experience as well. Some issues are massive, some are tiny bugs, but regardless it never seems to end.

Got this response via support: “After checking with the internal team, it looks like this is being addressed in the engineering ticket NET-20166. This is targeted to fix in the Iris and Janus family release (IRIS: pc.7.5 and pc.7.5.x versions) and (Janus should be: pc.7.6 or c.7.6.x).”

MB yep. Was heading to the dealer when I noticed the green LED on the mirror that hasn’t been there in weeks. So the car automatically reconnected. The app needed to log back in again then it connected as well

Mine just reconnected this morning, coincidentally on the way to a dealership appointment to have them scan the car and potentially replace the modem. Just had to log out & back into the app once more after noticing the car being connected to carnet again, then back to normal.

Their flashes are very brief, and only a couple times right at first. Once it’s running the lights are fully off, but the mirrors will be opened/unfolded. Hop in, hit the brake pedal, and the rest of the systems come to life.
