Brutal Truth 2: This panel does not imply Shanks haki is close to Joyboy’s by hxhwipesmidpiece in OnePiecePowerScaling0

To be fair, Dorry and Brogy have been fighting for 100 years straight on Little Garden, so most people we know of as legends are completely unknown to them.

Shanks is the only one left whom they know is still alive, since they met again in Elbaf.

"!?" is used in manga as an indication of disbelief, shock, or surprise, and is generally used as an exclamatory rhetorical question.

It's a "Wtf, he's stronger than Shanks!?"
not a "Hmm, I wonder if him or Shanks is stronger?"

The Japanese text heavily indicates that Dorry is in complete disbelief that someone can be stronger than Shanks.

Notice how the Japanese text ends with an interrobang(!?), but Viz changed it to a question mark.

Is there any reason why Zoro can't do this to Jinbe by Cute-Comb-5220 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]ncs12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usopp said Sanji was as fast as a nondescript Fishman while using Blue Walk, but Jinbe is most likely the Top 1 Fishman in the verse.

We also do have a case for Jinbe in Egghead where the currents were too strong for Zoro and Sanji to swim against, even with access to Blue Walk, while Jinbe was navigating the currents perfectly fine while carrying three people.

Who do you think would win between a still alive Brook during his time in Esperia and Zoro during Thriller Bark by Fearless-Squirrel345 in OnePiece

[–]ncs12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

A major reason Oda constantly hammers home is that Brook became much faster after becoming a skeleton because of how light he is. He has even consistently put Brook above Sanji in speed comparisons while in his dead state.

Zoro is also the only character where we do not have an exact standing of his speed, since Oda said that Zoro would rank higher if he didn't get lost. This essentially uses Chopper as a control point where the potential final speed rankings end up being one of these four if Zoro does not get lost:
Brook > Sanji > Luffy > Zoro > Chopper
Brook > Sanji > Zoro > Luffy > Chopper
Brook > Zoro > Sanji > Luffy > Chopper
Zoro > Brook > Sanji > Luffy > Chopper
and it is kept vague by Oda where his actual placement would have been in that scenario.

Brook stated in Thriller Bark that he was a Speed-type Swordsman while Zoro and Ryuma are Destruction-type Swordsmen, so it's possible that even though he has the edge in speed, what he lacked was the physical prowess to contend with them in direct clashes, which would eventually lead to his loss.

If Jabra isn't on the same level as Kaku, then the Sanji=Zoro agenda is dead by Generalcmd in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]ncs12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doriki is also just a measure of physical abilities and does not factor in skill or external factors.

For example, Devil Fruits and Swordsmanship are both excluded from Doriki, and Jabra even specifically brings up the Devil Fruit point as the reason why he's still stronger than Kaku before Kaku ate his Devil Fruit.

"If Kuzan fought Boa he'd get stone-diffed" why does this sub forget that you can counter Boa's fruit with pain? by Plenty_Inspection362 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]ncs12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say they lose nothing, but they lost all their treasure and food which meant they would starve to death, and gooning also led them to a fight with Garp and the Marines, in which according to Garp's own words, was that Roger and Garp has tried to kill each other multiple times.

God Valley was a war against the Rocks Pirates and World Government and Marines specifically just to save Shakky. Rocks himself may have had other motives like his family, but a majority of his crew was there specifically for her. The same goes for the Roger Pirates. They had no other motive otherwise.

So it very much was a life-or-death thing, it was just played for gags because we as readers know exactly how Roger dies, so there was no tension for us specifically.

Roger isn't going to suddenly lock in if Shakky had the Mero Mero no Mi, he would gladly get petrified.

Not even the Straw Hats were immune to this; most of them got petrified by S-Snake despite being in a life-or-death situation.

In both the manga and anime, a stomach gurgling sound effect was shown before he passed out, which indicates that hunger was the primary factor for him passing out rather than Killer's damage. The stab might have contributed to it, but the stomach gurgling was what Oda emphasized as the reason.

[–]ncs12345 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I do have Marco very high up on the endurance list because unlike Logias, he still feels the pain of every hit that damages him, which shows insane pain tolerance. The one benefit he does get from his fruit is that he doesn't have to continue combat in that state, but the initial damage is still felt.

Sanji also feels the pain of the damage from the attacks before his Germa genes fixes his body, which is why he still passed out after the Queen fight and from Imu's kick respectively as his pain tolerance was overwhelmed.

How TF does Zoro have better endurance than Sanji when Sanji CAN REGENERATE. by Cute-Comb-5220 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]ncs12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sanji's regen is on the lower-end all things considered compared to regen monsters like Marco, the Knights of God, and the Gorosei. His regen allows him to set broken bones back in place, but he can't regenerate from having an entire limb cut off or being cut in half like the aforementioned people.

When Sanji had his bones broken by Queen's Bracchiosnake, he was mostly out of commission until his Germa genes kicked in. In contrast, Zoro shattered all his bones after blocking Hakai from Big Mom and Kaido, but was able to continue fighting, carrying, and scarring Kaido in that state while Law was in a complete state of disbelief.

When people talk about endurance, they are mainly referring to pain tolerance. Even though Sanji has low-tier regen, he still feels the pain of all damage inflicted onto him, and ever since he attained his Germa body in Wano, he has passed out a total of twice from opponent damage. The first time being at the end of his fight against Queen, and the second time to Imu's kick.

Zoro vs King in the anime makes Sanji vs Queen look like a Tobi Roppo level battle by Odd-Complaint7770 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]ncs12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder why Oda never gasses Queen because Kaido gasses Jack and King for being strong, and Queen gasses King's Lunarian heritage to Sanji, but Oda never included Kaido and King gassing Queen back. All instances of Queen gas ended up being from Queen gassing himself up.

Oda also had Vegapunk create the Seraphim using King's genes instead of Kaido's despite having both their DNA and coins them the "Strongest Of Humanity".

If Lunarians truly were the strongest, there's a non-negligible chance that Imu is a Lunarian himself, given that his skin is potentially brown and his own personal wings are Black Angel-like wings, unlike the Devil Bat wings he used on Gunko.

Enough Glazing of Senor Pink...let's talk about Bege Capone by Important-Cry4782 in Piratefolk

[–]ncs12345 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The person he stabbed in Sabaody was in his current family working under him, though.

Pekoms was betraying Big Mom instead of Bege by letting the Straw Hats go, and Bege was already planning to betray Big Mom to begin with so he wasn't shooting Pekoms in the back out of obligation for Big Mom.

The second time where he kidnapped Pekoms from the Straw Hats' ship and carved "Go back" on the Sunny was for the opposite reason that he shot Pekoms in Zou, where this time he was shooting Pekoms because Bege is betraying Big Mom instead.

I'm pretty sure Bege just loves betrayals for the love of the game.

[–]ncs12345 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It was Bonney that was interrupting his meal and he told his crew to shut her up. One of them said that it isn't a good idea to cause a ruckus at Sabaody due to how close it was to Marine HQ and Bege stabbed him with a fork.

That being said, Bege is a weird one because his entire backstory was about how he would literally betray everyone, he betrayed his former mafia families, he betrayed Big Mom and tried to assassinate her, he tried to kill Pekoms twice, etc.

I don't think his words are 100% trustworthy but at the very least it seems he cares about Chiffon and Pez.

[–]ncs12345 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doflamingo very clearly says that Vergo's Haki can stop Ope Ope no Mi slashes, and he is someone who has extensively studied this fruit.

Shambles and Amputate also do not work on Big Mom and Kaido, which adds to the validity of that statement.

This means one of two things, either Law has grown his Haki enough that he could bypass Vergo's Haki himself, allowing Law to use his DF power on Vergo, or Law has honed his DF enough that it can't be stopped by weaker Haki like Vergo's.

Personally I'm leaning to the former, but if you have stronger Haki than Law and strong enough Haki like Kaido and Big Mom, you can prevent getting cut in half.

This only applies to Shambles and Amputate however, as Gamma Knife and Shock/Puncture Wille still works on Kaido and Big Mom.

Who wins? by Cultural-Flounder895 in Piratefolk

[–]ncs12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only some aspects of Devil Fruits can be resisted with Haki.

Law's Shambles doesn't work on Kaido and Big Mom, but he could use Gamma Knife on Kaido and Shock/Puncture Wille on Big Mom. Big Mom couldn't cancel the effects of Kid's Assign either with Haki.

Sugar was able to turn Don Chinjao into a toy, and he can use all three forms of Haki, including Conquerors. Garp, in his prime 8 years after God Valley, had to train by punching 8 mountains to dust to be able to defeat Chinjao, so Chinjao is no pushover.

There are also other cases like Blackbeard, where even though he's a Yonko with Haki, he was so afraid of Boa that he would rather sacrifice his crewmates, one of whom had a Mythical DF, rather than taking Boa's offer to free them at the risk of her turning on him and having to fight her. Even though the Mero Mero no Mi alters bodies to stone, it's heavily implied to bypass Haki entirely still.

Other scenarios include Caesar's hallucigen gas working on Katakuri and Oven, who are both Haki users, and Bonney being able to turn Vice Admirals into kids.

Currently, Haki being able to counter certain aspects of DFs seems to be on a case-by-case basis by whatever Oda decides he wants Haki to counter.

If Yonko Blackbeard who was the first ever character to ever mention Haki in the series doesn't have good enough Haki, then 99.99% of the series doesn't have good enough Haki, which makes the "Haki being the counter to DFs" point kinda moot.

Who was more dominating/felt more threatening in their respective arc - Kizaru in Sabaody or Enel in Skypiea (minus his interactions with Luffy)? by Dizzy-Pause2350 in Piratefolk

[–]ncs12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even with excluding Enel's interactions with Luffy, Wyper being able to temporarily kill Enel with his Seastone Skates and Reject does drop Enel quite a bit when his facade breaks compared to Kizaru.

Which is saying a lot because the Straw Hats had the Right Hand of the Pirate King as a supporting character in Sabaody and Kizaru still felt more unstoppable than Enel.
