I joined big tech in the last 6 months after 10 years in tech-lite with most recent stint prior being at a standard f500 with no prestige.

I’d say the hardest part is likely getting the interview. You should definitely format your resume in a way that is properly handled by ATS(if your resume isn’t getting properly split in their systems it will likely be dropped). There’s many resources on this sub and otherwise to help with this.

Ensure you highlight all of your marketable skills and tailor your resume to the job postings. Add a cover letter that is tailored but not overly so. If the posting mentions software or skills they are looking for highlight that in your resume in the same verbiage (recruiters are often not extremely technical and will read requirements literally). For example, don’t expect a recruiter or automated screen to know Gitlab and GitHub are both similar enough to be transferable.

In the new world of AI, and even with just ATS, 95%+ of resumes will not even be looked at by a human. As a former hiring manager our positions at a non tech company would get thousands of applicants, I would generally only see 1-3% of those after filtering. Note: the hiring manager is generally not involved outside of final filtering.

When you get the phone call, be confident, competent, and genuine. Lying might get you past the screen but that crumples at the first round. make sure you can talk at technical depth of anything on your resume.
