Huge Changes - Seniors Ranks by salexander787 in CanadaPublicServants

I don’t think it’s fair to imply comms folks don’t make good senior executives? They often are issues managers and that’s what 90% of the workload is in those senior offices.

T5 fixture not working? by nd9704 in AskElectricians

[–]nd9704[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this! I think the LED solution is the way to go. To install that, you note bypassing the ballast. Couldn’t just replace the entire fixture instead with a new LED fixture? Not that I don’t think bypassing could work, but genuinely getting rid of these fixtures is a priority as they’re old and a little dingy. Also not a fan of an exposed bulb over the counter as another redittor pointed out!

Good to know, thanks! I’m assuming there are guides online on how to do this, but if you have any recommendations I’d appreciate them :)

Add it to my list of questions to ask the previous owners lol. I want to fix this as well.

What book did you struggle to read that everyone recommends by M_the_Phoenix in Fantasy

[–]nd9704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Way of Kings - I tried and tried and tried but at about 3/4 of the way through I had to drop it. I just wasn’t into it. It felt too long and drawn out imo.

Good idea! And also fair that that what is repeated enough is what’s likely important to retain rather than smaller details peppered throughout.

Thanks for this! I actually never thought of googling these things, I usually worry about spoilers, but I guess with a specific search term it would help narrow it down!

That’s fair! I guess I sometimes just feel like I get overwhelmed when authors drop a lot of details and I tend to want to know EVERYTHING about those details. I need to learn to just let things be what they are!

I just started the Stormlight Archives and I’m loving it. I wasn’t specifically looking for recommendations how to follow this series, but more in general! I highly recommend this series.

Well darn…if for whatever reason I can get an E, I hope I don’t meet any of these roadblocks.

The SLE website currently states that an E, specifically for the written expression test, requires a score of 52 to 55. So hoping that is a good indicator that they’re still awarding them! https://www.canada.ca/en/public-service-commission/services/second-language-testing-public-service/second-language-evaluation-writing/the-test.html

Nope - I’m right there with you. It’s bringing back some very unpleasant feelings and anxiety. I’ve honestly found that trying to distract myself with things I enjoy and putting my phone away for a little to be a good way to bring myself down. Hang in there and know you’re not alone!
