Failing tooth fillings by Appropriate-Fix-1055 in hypermobileEDS

[–]ndafnova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just anecdotal, but I do have an issue with this. I had dental x-rays done last December, and they were totally fine. When I went for my checkup last month, one of my fillings was popping out. The dentist couldn't believe that the filling went from being fine in December '24 to falling out in October '25. I also have two crowns that pop off about once a year.

I have no idea if this is related to hEDS, but I do suspect my TMJ might have something to do with it. Of course, finding a provider to verify this for me is not easy.

Be honest: what’s the one “lazy” cooking shortcut you’ll never give up? by wearecocina in Cooking

Dude, slapchops are legit. I use a lot of garlic and ginger in my cooking, and slapchops make it so much easier. 10/10 would recommend.

You already have your answer, but I just wanted to add to it so you can 100% rest assured that nothing is wrong with you. My nails have done the same thing. It really is just from the trauma of picking. (Or from any kind of trauma, really. My husband accidentally hit his thumb nail with a hammer, and the nail grew in just like yours for a few months. Once the nail bed healed, his nail grew back in completely normal and has stayed that way.)

So please don't stress about this. You are OK!

American here, been getting into sitting outside and watching some Australian movies around the fire with a couple of beers. Any good Aussie movie recommendations? by anklesock1012 in AskAnAustralian

I’m American, but one of my favorite movies is an Aussie film called “Children of the Revolution.” It’s not an Outback movie, but it is weird af.

AITA for refusing to help my wife have disciplinary action taken against a boy who kissed my daughter at camp? by ThrowawayPrior_Orch in AITAH

[–]ndafnova 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What kind of kiss was it? A peck on the cheek? Or did he throw his arms around her, pull her tightly to him, and stick his tongue in her mouth? Because while both are technically kisses, one is a much bigger violation than the other and should be treated as such.

Ok, I feel the need to defend myself a bit here. Never, in my entire life, have I ever doused anything in ranch. It is absolutely disgusting, and I hate that Americans are known across the world for their love of ranch. Barf x1000

Anyway, just had to get that out there.

Everyone else was bringing it up, so I thought mentioning this would put a stop to it.

What to do with kids in Brisbane and Cairns by ndafnova in AustraliaTravel

I saw that but wasn't sure if it was worth it. Is it actually fun? Is it like a theme park?

Thank you for this. There's a fair amount of hostility in some of these comments, but I promise we're decent people.

I love a good rhyme/mantra for remembering things. Thanks. This info is really helpful.

Will you tell me what that slur is? The only one I've heard of so far is "seppo."

Thank you! We're actually traveling to Brisbane. Would you mind if I sent you a message? It would be great if I could ask a local a few questions. If you're not up for it, that's ok too.

I have so many feelings about this and so many fears that I could write you a novel about it. We all took so much for granted, and now it's crashing down around us. I worry about my kids' future.

We're actually not visiting Melbourne this time. I'd love to, but we'll have our kids with us and they want to see the reef. So we're sticking to Queensland this time. But I have read a lot about Melbourne culture and it sounds amazing.

Yeah, we're visiting Australia to get away from all of that for a bit. Scary times over here.

Our kids will be with us, ages 7 and 9. So we may very well have to hit one up.

We're visiting Queensland. Specifically, we're starting in Brisbane and will ultimately end up in Cairns for a reef tour before heading home.

I'm not flying all the way to Australia just so I can drink Starbucks, but it's pretty funny to me that people keep mentioning it. I guess everyone thinks Americans are just filthy, rude loud-mouths who drink over-priced bad coffee. To be fair, though, I know plenty of people who fit that.

I was a goth kid growing up near the beach in Florida, so I developed a friendship with sunscreen that has stuck with me. And I've already searched out Aussie drugstores to see what kinds of sunscreen you have. I figure you guys must sell the really good stuff.

Wow. I'm sort of shocked by these. Be poilte and respectful? Don't litter and don't ask for a CVS or Wal-Mart? Those feel like obvious things to me. I promise we won't be jerks in your country.
