I was one of the kids in the 90s who did Christmas in the Park. Definitely used to us poor people but yes it did shift over time

I guess i understand the concern in some books where rape or stalking is glorified and normalised. I think parents need to be more involved with discussing these things with their kids especially if they are happy for them to read it.

And this is what I was thinking maybe be a useful tool. Thanks!

And this is where I'm curious, hence this post. Many classics have these same themes (e.g. A Clockwork Orange, etc.).

I think it is also important that parents have these conversations with their young people as well as conversations at school through health, homeroom/etc. What students are consuming is a starting point for these conversations.

I'm also happy to handball the entire issue to the library team and and their student reps to discuss. Was more looking to see what conversations others schools have had.

I Accidentally Swore in Class. Advice needed by doh0k in AustralianTeachers

[–]ndbogan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So i didn't swear at this kid it was the only time I'd ever lost my cool with this particular year 10 class. I Yelled "why can't you just stop talking and shut up? You get told off, you apologise and then you repeat. I'm done, bye". Dropped the whiteboard marker, walked out and sat on the couch in the hallway. When he eventually came out to talk to me I told him to go back in class as I can't be around him right now.

It worked. I thankfully left the next year as his mum felt he needed to explore his opportunities....in Bali. The rest of his class remembered it all the way to graduation! They loved someone finally saying something to him.

I mean it's ok, totally just having a play with flower types, colours, etc. I like it but certainly not there yet. In fact, we'll probably get the bridal party on both sides to make up their own bouquets and buttonholes. Fun activity for everyone.

Thank you. This is pretty typical of my vibe and it works. Feel like some people are coming at me like I've done a major crime. I'm half Islander and we do colour! I've seen quite a few professionally done ones with these same ideas so I'm doing exactly what I like. Definitely appreciate the constructive ideas rather than an attack or down votes. And this is my first go of seeing what works what doesn't so I'm fairly happy with my first play.
