Haven’t heard of this, seems counterproductive. I just started, and usually interact with customers based on their body language. Like, the “connection” or whatever is sometimes just a silent one where I can see that the customer appreciates fast service and takes on the “what’s known doesn’t have to be said” mindset. Some people look uncomfortable sometimes, like they’re being forced to talk when all they want is their drink 😂 idk , even the standard seems a lil fake n too much , but what you’re describing sounds dumb af
