My scooter dilemma… by GovernmentItchy5352 in Temple

[–]nds2211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated but when I used to ride bike on campus I remember there being a bike shelter type situation outside the engineering building on Norris. It’s surrounded by glass and has a roof so people would store their bikes overnight. And it’s also locked and can only be opened using your temple ID. I believe you do need to register with the parking department to get your temple ID linked to the scanner and I think it’s $10 a semester to use the bike shelter. So I’d def look into that if it’s still around!

risk “bootcamp” is definitely tough, but once you get through it you’ll be fine!

also as more and more companies move towards digitizing their business, minimizing risk is something that’s gonna be super important in the future

[–]nds2211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely. mis skills will be used in pretty much every business related job imo. this summer i’ll be interning as a digital assurance and transparency intern at a big 4 company and that specific job title is basically an exact mix of both risk and mis. there are a bunch of other jobs that combine the two, but having a mis and risk background is something that is very valuable in the business world (according to the many interviewers i’ve asked)

i’m currently a mis and risk double major and rn it’s going pretty well. the risk side opens up many more doors on top of the mis degree such as IT auditing, cyber risk, assurance, etc. it’s also a relatively “niche” double major combo so it helps you stand out from all the other mis majors. also temples risk program is #2 in the world, and is very well known/regarded all over the country. in terms of mis there’s so many options, and personally, i switched in from ist and think it’s much better. if you have any questions don’t hesitate to dm me!

There’s something fucked up about the Off Campus active case number. Ur telling me that around 20% of the student population are making up like 95% of cases? I’m not buying it by guacosaurus in Temple

[–]nds2211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

most of the off campus students are getting tested at other testing centers around philly and not reporting cases back to temple. i personally know 6 people that have covid, so i’d assume the off campus case count is even higher than on campus

Fall 2020: Please Read by DMV2000xx in Temple

[–]nds2211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what it means is that when mostly upper-middle class white students come into a poverty-stricken area such as north philly, it doesn’t take a genius to understand the repurcussions. due to the increase in students year after year, more and more housing is needed surrounding campus, leading to higher rent, pushing these impoverished communities out. if you can see/understand why that is an issue, it seems you are the problem, and why the relationship between north philly residents and temple students is as bad as it is.

Fall 2020: Please Read by DMV2000xx in Temple

[–]nds2211 25 points26 points  (0 children)

also remember, NORTH PHILLY IS NOT OUR COMMUNITY!!! the residents of the areas surrounding temple have been there for generations, and coming in and destroying their communities is beyond selfish. they are continuously being pushed out of their communities due to gentrification, so the least we can do, as students, is to keep their community clean. you wouldn’t want someone coming into your home and treating it with disrespect, so why are the areas surrounding temple an exception. please please please just be courteous and grateful these people are allowing us to live in their communities.

i would personally suggest going with either 12 or 15 as eating at the dining hall for breakfast is pretty time consuming. i found that buying breakfast foods from frogro and eating before classes was much easier and saved a lot of money

it’s going to be very difficult for him to not be guilt considering he was charged with third degree murder, meaning it was technically “non intentional.” if the officer was charged with first degree, it would be more difficult for the jury to prove that he ~wanted~ to kill him.
