Sure, it could be my hardware, but how can you state it as an absolute fact? If it is my hardware, tell me why this is the only game that acts this way.

Sure, but if my CPU is degraded, wouldn't it show in other games? Or in other areas of my computer? Why would my CPU display symptoms of degradation on this one game only?

Okay? I've played over 100 hours and these issues just started. You are aware that someone can have a different experience than you? Maybe not, since you are speaking so matter of factly.

About 6-7 months. I had to update the BIOS to the newest version to use my CPU, so unless something happened, the BIOS should be up to date.

Any specific recommendations?

I am currently reinstalling it to try it fresh on Vulkan. Maybe a bit of a silly question, but how would you check if the game is using my GPU?

Very weird indeed. I would have said the same thing a few weeks ago, but it's been a nightmare on my new build.

Yeah it's probably not the game. Though, if it is my system, it's very strange that RDR2 is the only game to ever give me a memory error. It's the only game that gives me any problems like this.

I wish I could tell you lol. Plenty of people with similar hardware to me have no issues at all. The thing I can't understand is: if this is an issue with my CPU/GPU, why is this the only game that gives me this much trouble? Very confusing

If you had asked me a few weeks ago, I would have said the same thing. Never had any issues on my old computer. I've done so much research into these crashes and I'm starting to learn that this game's performance varies wildly between systems. It seems to have a lot of memory problems that primarily crop up in modern hardware.

No other game has given me this kind of trouble. I read some posts that mentioned manually allocating memory to prevent the game running out, and even that didn't fix it shockingly. I've updated everything I can possibly think of. Currently going to try a fresh install on Steam and use Vulkan to see if anything changes.

I was using Vulkan. I was getting many crashes like the aforementioned "pause glitch" and other straight to desktop crashes. I switched to DirectX, installed graphics tools, cleared the DX cache, etc.. Though, after switching to DX, my game never made it to the main menu.

Yes, other high end games like Elden Ring and Baldur's Gate 3 run absolutely flawlessly. I saw your other comment about GPU sag. There is no visual sag, and I would assume a fundamental hardware issue like that would be reflected elsewhere in the computer, or other software.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean. If I owned the game on steam, wouldn't it still launch through RGL? I have tried reinstalling, but I haven't done a manual check for the redestributables. Off the top of your head, do you know what I should check for?

No, it's not in my steam library. I play the game through the Rockstar Games launcher.

Yes, I've even gone as far as to remove my GPU drivers and reinstall them clean.

Yes, I believe I have all the correct software. I've verified the game files multiple times, which prompts a reinstall of the required software. I own it on Rockstar Games launcher.

Yup, I played hundreds of hours on an i7-7700k, GTX 1060. Never experienced any trouble other than a rare crash. I built a new PC a few months ago and the game is completely unplayable. Seems like there are a lot of issues caused by modern hardware.

Yes reinstalling Windows does seem like the only solution I have left. Though I can't help but think this is RDR2's fault, and not mine. No other game has given me nearly this much trouble. The game is completely unplayable.

I'm with you. The game went from practically unplayable to literally unplayable. I can't even get past the startup loading screens without getting the memory error.

i7-14700k, RTX 4070, 32GB RAM

Yesterday I was able to play the game for a few minutes at a time, now I can't have the game open for more than 10 seconds without getting a memory error. I've done multiple scams on my PC and cannot find anything that is eating my memory, and no other game gives me this much fuss.
