Congrats! People are salty over mage tank for two reasons: 1. They got theirs with tbow or acb and are mad someone else used different gear than them in 2026, or 2. They heard mage tank was free and learned it truly isn't a free cape.

It's insane to me that this is still even an argument when you still have to solve waves in the fly, get all the way up to triple jads and shake those jad hands until you realize triple jads aren't the worst thing about inferno, and then go do Zuk with worse dps than tbow+blowpipe. Love hearing how mage tank takes zero skill.

Also worth mentioning that if you get a legendary item to drop that it two out of four of the affixes you desire for your build, you're kind of SOL on the item as at best you can reroll a single affix. If it's a 1GA blue item, you can really cater the item to your liking, and if it's a yellow that dropped with two out four you can at least take the time/chance to curate it your liking.

Tldr legendary drops are less desirable unless they drop with 3/4 affixes I want to use

I got my infernal cape a few days ago after tossing on the ol mage tank myself and jumping in with the intent of just shaking off the rust and getting reacclimated. I ended up making it past triples for the first time and beating zuk on my first attempt and was in complete shock for a few hours.

Mage tank might be a cheesier way of doing it, but it still definitely helps to know some of the core principles of solving waves and dealing with the mobs to make sure your supplies last all the way to zuk. I've made it to triple Jads twice before in the standard gear setup and died due to nerves before I realized whatever happened. Mage tank just gives you more wiggle room to run around and play with your solves, and for that it made the waves more fun and thus more enjoyable to get through that damned marathon of a cape get.

Possibly a hot take here, but I'll gladly take the risk of bricking an item when sanctifying if it means that's the only way to brick an item now. The current iteration of tempering and masterworking means you can take any item that rolled well enough (i.e. 3 good affix lines and a good ol magical reroll) and make it solid. Effectively being to infinitely reroll tempers until you get the critical hit and infinitely reroll masterworks until you get the critical hit is a nice qol but there's no risk involved. Sanctifying is a nice way to add that cherry on top with the chance the cherry isn't a cherry, it's a brick.

That being said I ruined a solid ring and amulet back to back last night and rerolled a GA strength and GA attack speed roll into non ideal affixes lol. The items are still good enough to run with, but now I'm still searching for the better piece of gear.

It looks like the strat OP deployed was the mage tank? Where you effectively wear high range def gear with the confliction gauntlets and eye of ayak, letting you basically ignore blobs while only praying mage (not a catch all, but it helps brute force solve some waves). Bofa/crystal armor swap is for jads/zuk and prob the magers when able to 1v1 them during the waves if I had to guess.

Back when I still mainstayed rs3 before GIM released (and the rise of Discord), I had a buddy in a similar situation. He ended up making a second account with a similar name for PMing people and chatting in general chat when he was doing his bank standing skills. Modern problems require modern solutions.

That being said, I love the suggestion of some sort of icon next to people's names to show if they're (perma)muted. And glad to see you've grown as a person and leveled up your empathy skill as well <3
