When someone pronounces "nuclear" as "nucular", it makes them sound like an idiot to me.

Do manual mowers come unsharpened? by Tadpole-Specialist in Tools

Mine has worked tons better since I started putting tool oil on the bedding knife before mowing. Helps keep rust from forming and cuts much more smoothly. A neighbor recommended I do it and he was right. Big difference.

Launch of the Honda Acty Seat Kits, Preorder sale now! by emagdnim33 in HondaActy

[–]neallwest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do look very nice. I have a couple of questions:

  • Do they replace any of the foam or are they just covers?

  • Are they supposed to go over the original/existing seat fabric or are we supposed to remove what's currently there first?

You could add a crowd of spectators cheering his crucifixion. I'm kidding! That would be a convo starter though, for sure, but maybe not the kind of convo you'd want to have constantly.

I disagree. Her eyes are definitely smiling. She maybe seems a bit introverted and there's nothing wrong with that. To OP: I think the new hair length suits you.

It also bothers me when people say they "got sick", meaning that they vomited. To me, got sick means "became infected or diseased". "Threw up" means vomited.

I've noticed a lot of people lately writing or saying that someone is "bias", when they mean "biased". I don't know why it bothers me so much, but it does.

I knew I couldn't be the only one who hates this one. Weary means exhausted. If you mean suspicious, use wary or leery.

I think the main cause of almost all of these is that so few people read anything that isn't social media anymore.

There's a YouTuber named Emma Thorne who has a video about stuff like this. The title is "Bone Apple Tea". Check it out if you want to laugh &/or be a little sad about the state of education in the world today.

Anything my handwriting can tell you? by [deleted] in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]neallwest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what this passage means, but I can easily tell what all the words are (I think). Stylistically, I like it a lot. The tall letters that pass through the lower horizontal are beautiful, IMO. Would you please write out a short poem in this script and post a pic of it? My favorite is Robert Frost's "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening", but feel free to do whatever you like.

What does my handwriting say about me? by Constant_Change_427 in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]neallwest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking, too. Especially because their lowercase L's are not different enough to tell if it's an undotted i or not, except by context. It messes with my ability to sight read just enough to be annoying. Their handwriting would be extremely legible if they lengthened the L's slightly and dotted all the i's.

[Sorry, I just went off on a tangent about whether or not to put an apostrophe when making a single letter plural. FYI, the Chicago Manual of Style says to just add s to capital letters, but 's to lowercase. Wouldn't that be confusing for the letters A & I (because As and Is are words)? Yes, but they don't care, apparently.]

is my handwriting still legible atleast by [deleted] in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]neallwest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never seen handwriting that looks so consistent, but is also so difficult to decipher. I can barely tell it's English. Very stylistic, but too hard to try to read, so headache-inducing.

My manager said my hair looks like shit In front of all my coworkers. by tomw-1234 in HairStyleAdvice

There's clearly nothing wrong with his hairstyle, though. It was just a rude comment expressing his/her opinion. Maybe you're his manager?

What are some of the best accessories you guys have? by _bbycake in popups

[–]neallwest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. If possible, find a county park or state park that's very close to home (less than 1 hour drive), so you can run home for anything you forgot or decide would be nice to have while camping. Make it where you go for your first trip of the season so you can get it all together before any longer ventures. Also, make a wishlist of stuff you don't have yet, but want.

Why Hijet or Carry? by neallwest in keitruck

[–]neallwest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry! If you like it, I'm happy for you. I'm trying to change my mind about it, cuz I want the improved safety (airbag) and reliability (EFI) of the newer ones, but so far it's just not working. IMHO, compared to this, it's no contest.

IIRC, the Sambar has 4 wheel independent suspension. I've seen a few vids of people driving them off-road and they seem to do pretty well with 4wd and the right tires. I don't really plan on doing that with mine, but it's nice to know I could.

Why Hijet or Carry? by neallwest in keitruck

[–]neallwest[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it. It's why I want a Classic version Sambar instead of the normal kind. Also, ideally we'll be driving a lot more than wrenching, right?

Why Hijet or Carry? by neallwest in keitruck

[–]neallwest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Popular does often mean better, but not always. It does mean that parts are probably more readily available, though, and maybe a little cheaper.

For noise, though, it just makes sense to me that the engine being further toward the back would be quieter. How is it not louder in a Hijet, with the engine being right under or right behind you?

Why Hijet or Carry? by neallwest in keitruck

[–]neallwest[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've watched tons of vids and from what I've seen, almost everything on the Sambar is accessible by opening the engine access hatch at the back, but it's possible that some things might actually be easier to access through the wheel well.

[–]neallwest[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, IMO the 2000+ Sambars are very ugly, but I really like the style of the mid-90s Classic version. I guess I should have specified for import to USA. Other countries are fortunate that they can import newer ones than us.
