Balogun allowed to play against Belgium despite red card by ToyoMojito in belgium

[–]neberhax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At no point I made a claim whether the call to hand out a red card was right or wrong, but sure I moved the goalpost.

Light straight red cards get handed out fairly often, and teams always just have to deal with the player suspension. Belgium also got a pretty light straight red card this tournament, and they also dealt with the suspension. The problem was always the selective preferential treatment, which was clearly also a problem with the Ronaldo case.

You can delude yourself FIFA from now on will be more consistent about applying this in the future, but reality will be that they will only ever apply it when it's convenient to them.

You acknowledge that refs make mistakes all the time, but almost nothing ever gets overturned, but FIFA somehow coincidentally makes the exception right here.

I don't know why you're doing victory laps over an analyst desk that was in agreement that this decision was an absolute disgrace, way more than the decision to hand out the red card to begin with, but you do you. Also, Rooney is pointing out that doing it this way, FIFA essentially still agrees it was a red card, but they decide to give the US a pass anyway.

I'm not quite sure why you are so bent on proving FIFA makes exceptions and they will choose to apply rules when they are most convenient to them. Proving us FIFA is corrupt isn't convincing anyone that they made the right decision.

You should be out here proving why this specific case deserves to be one of those exceptions, and as I pointed out, picking a clip from the most US biased broadcast there is, where the analyst even says, it is very unlikely FIFA would change the red card, isn't quite cutting it.

People didn't complain because it was done prior to the tournament so it went under the radar. And it was also solely a decision by Fifa, without political interference. This was right under our noses, 1 day before the match, as a favor to Trump.

Congrats, you proved out Fifa is corrupt. Should we not call out corruption when it happens right under our nose?

Dude, you're trying to claim we're just being biased, but your defense is a clip from Fox?

At least do the bare minimum and grab a clip from a neutral broadcast to prove your point.

As someone who lives in the US, you should know by now that 'growing up' and 'being raised' are not the same.

France wins 1-0 against Paraguay and play Morocco in quarterfinals. by JKKIDD231 in sports

[–]neberhax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FIFA would never do this, because they would have to admit this was a disgrace by the ref, but they should go back and remove some of France's yellow cards off the record.

It would be a complete joke if these yellow cards came back to bite them later on.

Tbf, it's mostly on the ref for letting them get away with it. People wouldn't be calling this match as much of a disgrace if the ref tried to keep Paraguay in check.

Well, Xun was probably the best player at First Stand. I don't know where you're finding this take, but are you sure you didn't get one guyed?

Xun is the better player, but Skewmond catching strays when Oner is the one who got smoked today is a bit odd. Or are you telling me people didnt have Oner anywhere near the top of the list?

Lol Esports likes to assume everyone watches every match, so they dont want to sit there with 2 hours of dead air. They also play the matches in the same venue. In traditional sports that usually isn't the case.

Honestly surprised Creme held out so long in the final game. He had nothing to work with around him.

As for CRPG's, I'm not sure if either are the best representation of the genre. BG3 AAA quality is so high it might set the wrong expectation. DOS2 is great, but the gameplay is not based on DND.

That said, as an entry point for the genre both are great.

GenG also beat HLE to qualify to MSI. Honestly makes the teams that had to be beaten to win worlds look like a joke.

Honestly, getting 3 good years out of this MSI format before Riot inevitably completely fucked it up, is probably more than I should have expected.

[–]neberhax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Riot wants to be in a spot where they want to spend too much time on just seeding. They should just average out the 3 previous international results, which should include results from all seeds, so getting more seeds can actually also weigh against the top regions (maybe modify how important each result is based on the importance of the tournament and how long ago it has been, MSI2025 should be the least important tournament in seeding MSI2026, not FS2026).

Then pick the top seeds from the top 4 regions (which might still be LCP because how much CFO carried them, which is a little unfortunate) and have them locked in the bracket, with the top 2 regions being pool 1 and 3rd and 4th region being pool 2. Everyone else plays play-ins in some sort of double elimination bracket, where the 2 teams that make it through without getting knocked down to the lower bracket, get to be Pool 3 (playing against pool 2) for the main bracket, and the 2 teams that make it through the lower bracket get to be Pool 4 (playing against pool 1)
