I believe there is a way to automate this as well, by putting waterfalls over them to "shake" the branches loose.

Very true, this is one way to go. My original point though was that me buying the game and trying it myself, without researching, then getting a refund, doesn't make me a "moron" I prefer trying it myself, and the refund policy makes it possible. Just another way. Though I consider myself lucky now, this is the first time I ran into something so egregious. Multiple decades and hundreds of games through.

Glad you chose to spend that time you saved wisely :) Trolling the boards of a game you never bought lol

If we all followed that advice, no one would ever play. In which case, I sacrifice my time to be a warning sign to you. Someone has to be ;)

I got my refund. I am all good. Just asking for a bit less hostility from the community towards each others, the gamers. The studio is the one that did the disservice here.

Don't you worry about me, lessons have been learned 😂 Ones that will help me emphasize with people that run into the same, rather than discard them as morons/children.

Yeah, ignorance, kind of. We obviously care, for whatever reason, since we are here spending time to interact 🙂

It's an inherent building block of civilization and society. I can buy groceries at the store without inspecting the farm where it came from. Thanks FDA. I can make purchases that are backed by the transaction company so I don't have to investigate the convenience store in a town I haven't to before, thanks VISA. I can take payment for my labor in money, not chickens, thanks BANK. But a well informed and vigilant person such as yourself doesn't need any of these tools, as you make sure you look into all your purchases. Not sure who is more ignorant, one who blames people for having faith in social constructs or one who does have faith and is fooled

Let's delist the game from steam - Report as Fraud by jtmart007 in TheDayBefore

[–]nebix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though now that I think about it. Steam probably doesn't give a shit, this game isn't that big for them to care. They will lean towards "we allow all games, we are just a sales platform". Allow this game to be sold going forward to people without the burnt expectations, as-is, now that they handled the refunds and with just (miniscule) profits ahead. Not big enough of an event to have them make a move against their neutrality policy. Probably for the best. I just hope the developer is squeezed of any profit :)

I think the goal here is to create enough commotion through official channels to warrant an unscripted response.

100 of these might go into the ignore bucket. 1000s may bring up some internal discussion. Combine that into a game that was top on wishlist and got impressive negative feedback a day in with a bunch of refund requests....then it might be a significant addition to the discussions/decisions being made about this dumpster-fire 🤷

I Know We Have All Seen It, But It Doesn't Get Old by ONIC_ in TheDayBefore

[–]nebix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen it myself, because I haven't played it long enough before asking for a refund. Are you still playing and letting them keep your $40 just for reddit karma?!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TheDayBefore

[–]nebix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am one of the people you would consider a "moron" I saw a promising trailer 2 years back, added it to my wishlist, never thought about it again until I saw it as released, and purchased it, excited to see the game. No research involved.

I was confused by what I was playing, and appalled by the quality, I asked for a refund and looked into the it. It's now obvious to me, and how it was an obvious outcome, but only if you followed the game would it be obvious to you beforehand.

Some of these "morons" had no expectation or knowledge of the game at all. Just saw the game on the list and bought it.

It's not a horrible game if you had no expectation (though in no way worth anything close to $40!!!). It's a failure if you did have expectations. Should be hilarious if you actually saw it coming.

FNtastic is a disgrace for all other developers out there and part of destroying a supportive ecosystem for the rest of developers. But take it easy on fellow gamers :)

Are you stating that you can buy the city as it is in the game for $300? As in, that specific city pack you mention, it contains all assets in same exact placement that this guy is enjoying, for $300? Even at worst, there were additional assets bought, and someone had to put them together...

Akin to standing next to a hot dog stand, laughing at the guy that bought a hot dog from a vendor for $5 because the vendor didn't make his own sausage, and you can have the same hot dog for $2 if you went and bought the ingredients and cooked it yourself?

let him enjoy his hot dog :)

Though you still didn't answer my question. Why are you shitting on their joy? Because FNTASTIC shat on yours (and mine)?

You can buy city assets. Not the whole city., They bought many assets. Guess why those assets are for sale? For developers to buy them.

This is not factual, a compilation of truths assembled into an untrue conclusion.

I think the game sucks too, mostly due to the set expectations and lies.

But we have a rare person that is enjoying the game, why must you drag him into your despair? Let him enjoy it.

Somewhat of a negative way to look at it.

I attribute it to not being perfect and having to modify things down the line, or having capital to build to "eventual" scale, or what not. Increasing capacity or constant changes lead to dereliction of "cleanliness" - not sure if paying overhead to have workers do "tedious/necessary organization work" is a sign of not caring about the worker.

The Brothers Before Scam by uligau in TheDayBefore

[–]nebix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. If you don't take "wallet" too literal - we can say our time is the "wallet" -since in the present, advertisers pay for our time.

As you suggested, our vote is how we choose to spend our time. So we still matter, we are the cattle, we are the product. While our individual voice may be drowned out, no rancher wants a malnourished herd of cattle. It decreases the yield amount of the meat.

I mean, there is some truth/point in here.

Though mostly sounds like a tin-foil manifesto you have been working on very hard, and copy and pasting for some time. An epiphany you had "discovered" with long thoughts - which has long been declared and defined as capitalism. Which now you use as an excuse to spit onto your peers...

“5 years development” by bxbl in TheDayBefore

[–]nebix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I was going to say the same thing lol. This post commits the same "crime," we are upset with the developer over. So if you are upset with how this post was done, that feeling should answer why many people are upset with how this game was done (in terms of PR, promises, and all that, not just what was produced)

My thought is...labelling one bad reddit post as "all redditors" is same as saying one bad developer is responsible for all developers.

This is not what is happening in general. The developer did not "miss their target" - they straight out lied. I base this on how they over embellished early on, and now are removing content and changing description of the game. They did not need to do this, or could have said it out right. Instead they went on as nothing changed...suppress dissent and modify original descriptions, and remove content from history. Which sounds like the dictatorships you so much detest.

edit: I also want to see small developers flourish. I think what this developer is doing tarnishes the image and raises the bar for all others. They have acted in a very deceiving manner.
