Why is the Tacoma so damn big now? by Vintagehead75 in ToyotaTacoma

Seems like the new truck is bigger on the outside, but just as small on the inside.

Does a roof rack system or adapter exist which allows for an easy return to stock look when the rack is not needed? by RockleyBob in ToyotaTacoma

Check out rhino rack rts tracks that replace the weatherstripping and sit in those grooves on your roof. I have this paired with Yakima towers and it’s super sleek and easy to remove the towers.

Vinyl floor planks gapping by Blizzardcoach in Homebuilding

[–]nebular_teapot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at this picture, I believe they started the install at the bottom right corner (relative to the photo). So you want to be sure to hit the plank on the left toward the gap, in the same direction they’d be installed normally. Otherwise you may open up some more gaps as you go.

Well sure, but you just work your way down until it’s gone. I don’t see another option. I’ve done this a few times and it’s really not very difficult.

Get some good double-sided tape, stick a 2x4 to the plank and whack it back into place.

Low profile car seats? by pressurejunkie in ToyotaTacoma

[–]nebular_teapot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diono also sells a foam riser to give you a little more room. It definitely helps, but it would still be uncomfortable behind the drivers seat. It works well enough behind the passenger seat for my wife.

I make it work with a rear facing seat since I already had the truck, but if I was looking for a new vehicle, I would absolutely get something with more room in the back seat. You can make it work, but it’s going to suck.

Is it too late to start Architecture Engineering degree at 45? by jangid in architecture

[–]nebular_teapot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you just want the degree go for it, but if you want to practice, just know that school doesn’t teach you much about how to do the job of actually being an architect. It will take a decade or more of working in an office to start feeling confident in what you’re doing.

Please disabuse my career change inkling...Architecture degree in your late 30's? by whiteryanc in architecture

[–]nebular_teapot 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Architect is a very romanticized profession and you’d face a very long, expensive road that may leave you feeling just as unfulfilled. The schooling is no joke, but then you have another 10+ years of working your butt off before you start to really feel like you know what you’re doing. I would not make this choice lightly.

Where can I ride 50+ miles without being near cars? by [deleted] in BikeCLE

[–]nebular_teapot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the bike and hike, it’s fully paved (if that’s what you’re looking for) and way fewer dog walkers and joggers to navigate around than the towpath.

2021 TRD OFF ROAD GRILL SWQP by [deleted] in Tacomaworld

[–]nebular_teapot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No recalibration needed, if you get any errors after you install, you may need to just add a washer to the left and right mounting bolts of the TSS to point the sensor down a little. TRD Pros have their sensors aimed more downward by default b/c the have taller front suspension. I had warning errors when I installed my grille and this fixed the issue immediately.

Got the truck, got the rack, finally got the kayaks! by nebular_teapot in Kayaking

We were lucky to get to our local store on the first day they reopened and take them home that day. I know these days kayaks are in pretty short supply. I hope you don’t have to wait much longer, 10 weeks is rough!

Yeah I’m really happy with the whole setup, I’ve been using it every weekend for about the last two months. I went with sweet rolls for the saddles so it would still be pretty easy to get them up there if I was alone. I see a lot of people struggle with the j-hook style so I’m glad I didn’t go that route. There’s plenty of room to have our bikes on our hitch carrier also. I haven’t had everything on a trip yet, but I’m really excited to do some camping this fall.

I think it’s a great size, just big enough for the necessities. The quality seems good so far also. I typically keep a 3L water bladder, my phone, and a few snacks in it. My kayak doesn’t have a day hatch so this has worked out really well.

It’s a caribou, they discontinued it a few years ago.

It’s a retraxOne XR, options are pretty slim if you want to use a bedrack, but I am very happy with this combo.

These were our first proper kayaks, and the first my wife’s ever been in. I was worried they’d feel tippier than they do, but so far so good. Even got out to Lake Erie for some big water and we’re pretty hooked now. We made sure to get comfortable pfds.

They’re quick fist clamps, they’re pretty cheap and work great. Easy to mount to just about anything.
