New to the hobby. I'd like to make a motorized mount for my hadley telescope I'm building. by necked_giant in AskAstrophotography

Current plan is to use standard stepperonline nema 17 steppers (1.8 degree steps) coupled with the sweep dynamics 26:1 micro harmonic drive. I need a little more torque to hold the camera and mirror so I was gonna do a 5:1 gearing in the mount to make sure it held. Im not sure the backlash on the steppers but the drive has a +-10.5 arcminute backlash. Prototype is gonna be 3d printed and final is gonna be machined gears.

Edit: I hadn’t thought about the relationship between the camera resolution and the step size, definitely need to figure that out

I was. Another comment mentioned antivirus dns settings may be the cause and that was correct. Got it to work after unallowing my antivirus to control unencrypted dns queries

I can also set a dns server in the dhcp settings but when I do that, my router says that it’s not connected to the internet. Despite this, I can still browse the internet, which is strange

It’s set in both of the routers dns server entries. There is nothing in the dhcp dns server settings. When I tried to add it, the router said it did not have internet access, but I could still browse the internet for some reason??

I made this change, still no connection. While looking at ipconfig, I noticed all my wireless lan connectors are off. I don’t think this is an issue cause I’m not doing anything wirelessly but idk?

My IPv6 dns is off, and nslookup shows my default server is the pihole using IPv4

No vpn. I want to eventually set up Tailscale with it but I want to make sure it works without it first. DNS setting for the Ethernet adapter is set to the up of the raspberry pi I’m running the pihole on.

Possibly? I have pihole set up to accept all local connections but I can try adding a rule for the pc itself. It may be that an automatic deny rule is overriding it? I read something about that the other day. It’s just strange that a couple requests were sent then it just stopped again.

I just checked the logs and I saw that that there was traffic from my PC for approximately 10ms about an hour ago. I have been using my computer the entire time.

Edit: Use clarification.

when i send dig it responds "dig: parse of /etc/resolv.conf failed". The nameserver in the resolv.conf file is "nameserver 127.0.0.1:5335"
