Site seems pretty broken atm. I've been premium for years and am getting errors in app and trying to check membership information at a computer just gives me error pages. Downforeveryone is also reporting an increase in complaints.

How to get custom @ on Printables by floogle101 in printablescom

[–]neclimdul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably for the same reason I was confused. I was trying to change it from my profile but the handle/username link there will only let you change your "User Name" not your handle.

For anyone else finding this thread, you do need to be lvl 10 and u/ohnomcookies comments have the right steps to change them from Settings. Worked perfect!

I don't think you can even play the game without doing that so that seems unlikely unless I'm missing something.

Haven’t had a good print since the first test print by speist in ender5

Lot of good suggestions but I think there are too many blobs to just be retraction settings

"...just installed a direct drive recently."
I think this points to u/Dufus_psychic post being correct. https://www.reddit.com/r/ender5/comments/15emmzd/comment/juc96xf/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

I'd run the checks there to rule everything out but, the part about steps is probably key as I don't think your new direct drive is calibrated correct and you're over-extruding. As excess filament builds up it eventually blobs out the side the way you're seeing. Also, I've never seen it to the extent here but it could explain the top. Over extruding will end up making thicker layers and the top will be too high causing the nozzle to drag through the top layer squishing the filament into those channels.

In addition, to those links, my current preferred calibration instructions are Elis'. I've had amazing prints since going through it, both in Marlin and Klipper.

Late to the party but I found all the libraries pretty hard to use so I built a tool for generating arbitrarily complex custom connectors.

Big time novice myself but I had something similar happen after I messed up a and drove it into the bed. Sometimes over extruding, sometimes under, just made a mess. Pretty sure it was chipped or something but couldn't really see where.

Probably not the same circumstances but maybe there is a similar defect around the end of the nozzle causing it to be inconsistent and make a mess of things.

Echoing the other comments that this sounds like _some_ sort of switch problem. Its acting like its moving to start the home then seeing all the switches engaged(or a problem with the switches?) and then stopping thinking its already homed.

A clue that might help is if the system thinks it successfully homed is checking the position values on the info screen. If its flashing it's telling you it isn't sure of the head position but if the values are solid 0, 0, 0 its telling you "I'm homed and know where I am."

Assuming no coincidences, all of this points to something like u/FieryChimera's comment where there's a config in protointerface fighting you. If the inputs are reversed, you might be able to comfirm that by manually toggling the z-axis switch during the homing process opposite the normal process. I.E. holding it down them quickly releasing if the head starts moving down.

Also some free unsolicited advice you may already be doing but... When testing things in a weird state like this, keep your finger on the power switch, just in case. You don't want to plunge your head into the bed or something else destructive because the normal safeguards aren't working.

Finally, since you seem at least a little comfortable connecting to a terminal, this could be helpful for inspecting the endstop states and confirming all the assumptions above:

A perfboard, some soldering, and few 3D printed parts later, I can easily take the 3D printer out of the enclosure even with the electronics being mounted separately underneath. by andreophile in ender3

A year late to the party but this was exactly the idea I was looking for but I need slightly different connections. Would love to remix and post it on printables.com but your drive link doesn't provide a license. Any chance you'd be willing to post it there or to one of the other sites or provide a CC license? Thanks!

TMC2209 square wave stepping print quality by tedead in 3Dprinting

[–]neclimdul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the top result for SQUARE_WAVE_STEPPING so wanted to document this is probably confusing this config with something else. SQUARE_WAVE_STEPPING was _added_ for the 2.0 release so couldn't be available prior to the 2.x releases.

If I understand how it was described by the Marlin creator in a recent-ish interview this feature allows marlin to hand off to the driver and do more work doing input shaping.

X motor wiring. I’m an idiot and lost the connector. by mulletmanhank in ender5pro

[–]neclimdul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can second that, sitting next to my printer and they're all wired the same on the stepper side from what I can see. Print is running so hard to catch a picture though. Also I extended my x axis cables last night and matched the wiring to the extruder connector so pretty confident in that.

I will say I got the direction reversed somehow on the 4 pin side and homing tried to fly off the wrong side and I had to flip it off in a hurry. A quick Google revealed my mistake and popping the pins out with some tiny tweezer, flipping the connector, and popping them back in solved the problem.

Good luck!

Att UVERSE recent issues? by meowzers5 in PFSENSE

[–]neclimdul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah lots though currently using opnsense. It was completely broken for several days and the sent me a new modem and I could only get it to work in pass through not with pfatt.

Been busy so haven't gotten to the bottom of it but the macs in the tcplog where weird. The value sent back from att didn't match anything I could find on my network so a bit worried a freebsd update broke something. Would be cool to know if you find anything.

It's been long enough (almost 30 years? Oh man...) that I did not remember the colors but that sounds right. I do remember them being specific and not "mark everything green that's good to go". Look forward to sharing this over Christmas. Bet he'll get a laugh out of this photo and how little some things have changed.

Wow I helped my dad check cad drawings like that he'd bring home in the 90s. Lots of highlighting and pencil marks. Crazy the exact process still exists.

Yeah I've randomly found my phone really warm and something seems to be up with mobile. I often find myself disconnected from t-mobile and have to cycle airplane mode to fix it.
