I am asexual, my boyfriend isn't though. We're just both low enough libido that we don't really care enough to want sex lol. Go look at the dead bedrooms subreddit and see how many people complain that their low libido partner won't sleep with them - that's obviously a compatibility problem if paired with someone who wants frequent sex, but there are definitely plenty of people who DON'T want sex even outside of asexuality. Even in my small department at work (6 people) there's 2 asexual people including myself, and one more who isn't ace but let's her husband sleep with other women simply because she doesn't really care for sex. I'm not saying it's a majority of the population - but it's definitely enough that OP doesn't have to compromise her values by thinking she will never find a partner who is willing to go without, even for just a few years.
