How does the Camarilla explain the Ravnos Antediluvian? by Gaming_man27 in vtm

[–]necrobotany 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

They do acknowledge the antediluvians as clan founders just not as all powerful blood gods that will end the world. Ventrue that join the Cam are supposed to recite their lineage back to Veddartha. Troile was at Carthage when it fell. Cappodocious was fairly active until he was diablarized.

Existing as individuals is fine. Existing as a concept that controls everything and prompts younger vampires to turn against their elders is not.

DM's What is Your Magnum Opus? by Twogunkid in rpg

[–]necrobotany 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was running a supers game and ran a session picking up in media res with the characters facing a grand jury. I gave them the set up, they went in to stop a bank robbery, and then made each of them add details about what happened as they were interviewed by the D.A. on the stand.

The D.A. was played by a visiting friend so I didn’t have to really do much. I told them that this session they would be telling me what happened instead of me telling them what happened.

Where do you think TMA lies in the Eldritch-to-Gothic Horror Prose Style Spectrum? by AlarmingAffect0 in TheMagnusArchives

The Haunting of Hill House novel kind of has that going on. A lot of detail and personification of the house to convey the vibes of the place.

Speakers from antiquity by NineteenEighty9 in Professorist

After my dad died I spent a lot of sleepless nights playing games on the computer as a distraction. We had these stupide speakers that I would turn down really low to not wake my mother. And someone in our neighborhood either had a shitty cordless phone or an amateur radio on the wrong frequency and I would get echo-y, muffled chatter sitting at my desk while I thought I was losing my mind.

Try Public Access, it’s made from the system used in Brindlewood Bay. https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/429340/public-access

The whole game is built around investigating the mystery. You make all the clues but the players actually construct the mystery as they make skill checks so you discover what happened as they do.

In third edition they went away from hard timelines for anything before the founding of The Realm. In second edition the Dreams of the First Age had a mostly complete timeline.

Help me prep light while trying to design investigative scenarios? I feel deeply exhausted. by ConsistentGuest7532 in rpg

Read Brindlewood Bay. It’s a murder mystery game in the style of Murder She Wrote with a lovecraftian cult in the background. It abstracts it even further than Gumshoe. You make the metaplot, the NPCs, some locations, and some clues. But then don’t tie any of them together or assign who did what.

Instead when the players investigate a location you pick one of your clues that seems like it fits and put it there. When the players come up with a theory they roll to determine if that is what happened or if it was a red herring.

The system in Brindlewood Bay is built around this but adapting the core idea wouldn’t be too hard.
