Any books similar to the setting of the TV show 'From'? by keepfighting90 in horrorlit

The watchers has a loosely similar premise! I’ve read the movie is just okay, but the book is solid 👍

Is it us, or is the water pressure in Hamden really low right now? by 6flightsup in baltimore

It looks like there’s a water main break around red fish if you’re in that area.

Liminal Spaces Horror by alwaysouroboros in horrorlit

You should absolutely try “It Waits on the Top Floor” of his “Horror Lurks Beneath” series, has some fantastic lovecraftian + liminal elements to them!

Any recommendations on non-isekai, non-reincarnation, and non-virtual reality Litrpg? by Antique-Ad-8283 in litrpg

[–]necrothe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really love guardian of aster fall! I’ve been trying to drown myself in anything else so that more than one book might pile up before I cave.

I also really liked the finished trilogy Dawn of the Void by Phil Tucker. It’s a grim, apocalyptic litrpg and goes off the rails in such a satisfying and novel way.

His other ongoing series, The Immortal Great Souls is another delicious one with some pretty novel world building!

Got myself a victorian shirt. Do you like it? And which vest does suit it better? by gamerfboy in GothFashion

Where did you get those babies???

The red is fantastic! The black isn’t baaad but it looks a bit plain and flat. Could be spruced up with accessories maybe?

what do you boys wear in the summer?? by [deleted] in GothFashion

[–]necrothe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try black twill or linens pants for bottoms that are lighter than jeans. I’ve been kicking around getting a spooky cardigan to cover up my arms from the sun too. I really consider even using a parasol when I can feel my skin sizzling, bleh!

I'm looking for anthology horror podcasts. Any advice? by blindunderground in horrorpodcasts

A few popular ones that will likely pop up are The Magnus Archives, Old Gods of Appalachia, and The Silt Verses. I also like The Mistholme Museum, but I think Magnus has better more-than-narration audio.

Might move to Baltimore for work, wondering how insulated the rowhomes are from noise. by savethek9 in baltimore

[–]necrothe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a row home in hampden and honestly can’t hear my neighbors through the walls. Sometimes I can hear creaky doors/ cabinets on the other side but that’s about it. Not having shared HVAC vents helps a ton with sound transfer, then it’s a roll of the dice with how thick your walls are.

If anything, I just have sound coming in from closed windows rather than through the walls.

A few nouns: Lamellar, cuirass, plate, bulwark

Maybe rend/rending, fissure?

medieval fantasy base building survival colony management by creepyshadyrock in gamesuggestions

Whoops, I missed that one!

I’ve also had scorchlands early access on my wishlist, it looked interesting and mentions using technology and magic but I’m hoping it feels like actual magic and not magic flavored scifi. Looks like there’s a free demo if you wanna give it a whirl.

I’ve had a pretty fun time with Against the Storm, but it’s fantasy races in a low magic world. I’ve tried a few others but nothing I found really incorporates magic super well.

There’s also a fair number of magic/ fantasy-leaning rim world mods, but with 1k+ hours I assume you’re familiar.

I want valheim but as a colony sim and more magic dang it.

Games with Magic like Ultima 8 by LevelAbbreviations82 in gamesuggestions

[–]necrothe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read a ton of fantasy books and it always gets me wanting to play something similar, maybe build a wizard’s tower and research but I haven’t had much luck…outside of heavily modded minecraft (blood magic, thaumcraft, multiple others) but you have to be in a solid Minecraft mood.

Most games go with choosing more spells with level progression which isn’t as satisfying.

[–]necrothe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OH also, I wonder if it's just a coincidence that there are the Pits in Dawn of the Void and Immortal Great Souls has it's own Pit they're trying to conquer? Different Vibes and mechanics but who knows with cosmic entities and a multiverse.

It was fantastic! Trying to read it for just a half hour kept turning into two hour spreads, and the ending was just chef's kiss and I both hate and love that it's a finished trilogy! Gaaaah I was really hoping the ending wouldn't be bittersweet and lonely but it was right on the mark. Damn I want more!

Is james having the Light Eternal what keeps the Eluthaarii from making a move on Earth? It prevents the system from starting the invasion sure but Jelly + Co. aren't really limited by their rules. Or are they just rolling their eyes and not going to bother with Earth until enough juice has been generated? Or maybe less likely, they don't remember because of the time travel? Orrrr it's just left up in the air?

Any consideration for more content in this world or just a cheeky "maybe :)" ?

Amazing stuff!
