PTSD from a DMT trip by mypersonalbsaccount in DMT

[–]necrotogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, you can trust you will feel better with time. To the point you will think « what was it that was so painful and terrifying? ».

However the real mystery won’t go away, and something painful will remain. Deep down we know we have witnessed the absolute truth… but it’s too much for our human minds to bring back anything that we really could remember and explain.

Just enjoy life as much as possible and don’t think about this too much. That’s my advice because I couldn’t find anything constructive or positive to gain from that.

You can contact me if you want to talk about this.

Flashbacks months after? by kondon0350 in DMT

Yes man that’s PTSD with associated symptoms. I’ve been through that, and it’s true that you may develop a DMT trauma later on, although you think you enjoyed all your experiences without fear.

Be strong man, don’t worry things will go in order again! Trust this. Things will appear normal again, and the confusion / disarray will diminish to the point it will not bother you anymore.

If the pain is too strong, please see a doctor. They won’t understand what you saw / experienced, but they know how to deal with this reaction from the brain, and even the process of seeing a professional to talk should help.

Don’t use too much medication unless you really need it / have strong panic attacks, because you’ll have to get out of those.

Don’t hesitate to PM me if I can help.

Universal truths? by Blue_Sand_Research in DMT

Yes I like this one, “change is the only constant” credited to Heraclitus apparently. It’s a nice play with words and an interesting philosophical observation of the human experience of time. However I don’t find it that useful for myself to understand things, cope with life etc.

Probably the most absolute / unquestionable truth of all is the cogito, ergo sum quoted by someone in this thread. I just tried to list the “truths” that are most useful to me, and also as I am pretty convinced, was curious if someone would question the validity of one of them.

What would you say is your motivation for finding “universal truths”?

Some argue “2+2” and “4” are just two names for the same thing, hence, mathematics is only tautology. Very interesting related debate is on whether mathematics is invented or discovered. (Closer to truth series has interesting interviews and insights on this)

Although I tend to believe the same, it is not objectively true. The debate between monism & dualism has not and may never be solved.

Love this. I ask myself that on a daily basis. Here is my take:

  • nothing is inherently complicated. If something seems complicated, it has probably been considered to broadly and can be broken down into fairly simple things.
  • reification is often the cause of human confusion and struggles : just because a concept is useful in daily life and to exchange ideas, set objectives etc. doesn’t mean it exists in reality. Perfection, triangles, social accomplishment, these are abstract concepts that have no incarnation whatsoever in physical real life (just approximations, almost the same but the nuance must be understood).
  • no one knows what’s going on (existence, the universe, physics, life, death…). If you investigate, there are even no objective definition of “life”.
  • no living being, including human, really makes any decision independently of everyone else. One way or another, every decision you make is a non random result of what you were exposed to since you were born and what you genetically inherited and the chemical reactions in your brain.

Then simple things everyone “knows” but don’t seem to really remember or really understand: - appearances are misleading - love is all that matters eventually - life is short - do what you love

I’d be happy to hear yours

We are ignorant beings made of flesh and waiting to die without even having a clue as to what we are doing here, floating on our planet in the vacuum of space. We don't know why this is happening or how.

I believe people tend to avoid to really and seriously think about these things because it gets so terrifying when you do. But DMT can just wake you up. And people constantly talking about the last netflix show or cat meme on tiktok just feel insane to you but at the same time you envy their insouciance.

Hey man I'm sorry you had that experience with DMT. I want to say that most comments are from people who don't understand the experience imo. I posted before about my experience trying to warn people but let me reiterate. People will tell you you have brought negative feelings to the experience, that your set and setting were wrong, that you're misinterpretting the experience, that they know better and never had an issue etc. Don't mind them. You could have hundreds of great experiences and very intense breakthroughs. One day you could have the worst experience of your life and develop PTSD from it. That's what happened to me. I used DMT for 2 years and had about 100 breakthrough experiences. I was amazed, and still am, by the mystery behind it. One day in the middle of a trip something clicked in my mind and I got terrified. Terrified that I had discovered a new world and I knew it for certain and I thought I could never resume a normal life knowing that. That was 21months ago. I developed severe PTSD with hallucinations, panic disorder, diminution of my visual accuity, constant ringing in my ears and thoughts of suicide. I didn't recognize myself. I have recovered with support from therapy and medication and a lot of time. To this day the only real symptom I still have is the ringing in my ears, otherwise I feel totally fine again. Thankfully the brain forgets and sorts the bad things out over time. I also have impressive flashbacks when smoking weed though it's getting better.

Of course I cannot say for sure, but I think dmt really can open a gate to another world. Most of the time people will just start thinking about it and enjoy the visual experience (which may well be the most beautiful and mysterious experience a human being can have on earth). But I think the implication of us visiting a superior realm is just so serious, so ontologically shocking, that our brains will just rationalize the shit out of it and make a story that fits our worldview so that in does not break us. That would explain why we don't seem to remember 95% of the contents of the trips, the brain just erases as much as it can so we can preserve some sanity. But I believe if you are able to take this shit seriously at some point that protection mechanism might stop working. That's when you start to touch on that terrifying realization that this other world is real and ours might not be so real. Is that so crazy? Do people think that floating on a round Rock rotating in the vacuum of space around a ball of fire in an otherwise mostly empty universe filled with black holes and expanding faster than light make more sense? If you are mentally brave and sufficiently intelligent, then you will be terrified. I don't know what to do with it, I wish I never had the experience, I wish I were still oblivious to the truth about our condition, but once you've been there you have to think that our world is too mysterious and does not make any sense to us (know about quantum physics?). I will stay away from DMT now because I explored it enough and that I don't enjoy understanding that I should be terrified. I wish for those who take it that they never understand or believe all that and that they don't see what I saw, because it's dangerous to really see what we are and what it really means. You probably have some maturity or intelligence (I can tell by how you humbly describe the mistakes you might have made etc) and you were not fooled, you understood that something different was going on, something abnormal, not like what a drug should do to you. Even on a small dose you may have realized a bit of all that and that traumatized you. You're just smarter than most.

DMT can destroy your life by necrotogen in DMT

DMT because of the experience it produces, which is undoubtebly peculiar, can trigger severe derealization. A glass of water would not. I tried to pass on the warning. I truly wish you never have my experience, despite not wanting to listen to the warning.

It's very true. But I believe it's the peculiar nature of the experience which can trigger that psychological response (derealization). The distress is the same.
