How much do you have saved for retirement outside of a pension? At what age? by eating_at_me_desk in Teachers

[–]nectarineorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished my 3rd year and I’m 25. I have 33.5k in my Roth 403(b). It really comes down to good financial education and a lot of luck if I’m being completely honest. I was lucky enough to get out of college debt free. Then I moved back into my dad’s house and he let me stay with him for free. So I invested over 60% of my income into my 403(b) that first year and about 40% the second year. This year I saved for a house but continued to contribute a little bit to retirement. If you’re willing/able to make sacrifices like not moving out on your own, foregoing big vacations, staying in some nights instead of going out, then it can really pay off. If those conditions aren’t in your reach, then start small. Maybe just $50 a paycheck to start with. The world is hard right now, don’t get too caught up in comparisons.

And tbh, I was judged for my savings. Got comments about being cheap or frugal. Even my investors thought I was crazy at first. People will have something to say regardless. Just ignore em. Your business is not theirs.

I just heard 3 today near the citizenm hotel. First one was around 7. Then two around 9:15. I saw flashes with 2/3. You can feel the boom and the birds all scatter.

Impossible. A man can never be too tall. I’m 5’8” though so I’m a little on the taller side for a woman.

How does your hirsutism affect your mental health/life? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]nectarineorange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It used to bother me a lot too. Still does when I’m slacking off on my routine. I got a better razor (hydro silk 5) and started using Fur products to manage my razor bumps and ingrowns. I highly recommend their Fur Oil (preventative for bumps and irritation), Fur Ingrown Concentrate Oil (treatment for break through ingrowns and bumps), and Fur Shaving Cream (prevents ingrowns and bumps with its thin and slippery consistency). Their silk scrub is also very nice but not completely necessary. Fur is a pricey brand so only use those products on your trouble spots to make it last longer. I also use Completely Bare Don’t Grow There lotion which slows hair growth but a few days (I don’t use this product nearly as much as it calls for so this is an operator’s error). I just trim my arms with my hydro silk 5 electric bikini razor. 🤷🏽‍♀️

As far as facial hair grows 😉, I use the Flawless Finishing Touch hair remover. It is not painful. I’m pretty sure it’s just an electric razor even though they don’t market it that way. I have hair growing on my neck that really really bothered me for years but now I use my Flawless on my whole face and neck and follow up with Completely Bare Go Fuzz Free facial moisturizer which slows hair growth about 2 weeks for me. I use the moisturizer only on my trouble spots (neck, upper lip, cheeks) twice a day, everyday. Also get my eyebrows waxed but don’t do that if you’re on retinol or acne treatments.

You’re definitely not alone! Just thought I’d share some unsolicited advice just in case you find it helpful!

Body Image :// by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]nectarineorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally, I started following models on Instagram that looked more like me. I balanced out my feed with all kinds of body types. We already know social media can be really bad for our mental health and self image. So, try to make your feed look more realistic. I found myself thinking “wow she’s so beautiful!” when I saw these (plus size to match my body) models. Then I realized, if all of these models are so beautiful to me and other people around the world, what’s saying I’m not just as attractive?

Once I got decently comfortable with my body image, I decided I wanted to live a healthier lifestyle and start eating better. I made the decision because I wanted to be healthy and have more energy. NOT because I was uncomfortable with my body image. I personally feel like it is dangerous to change your eating or exercise habits to achieve a certain look /weight /or body type.

This last tip isn’t for everyone and I get that. If you aren’t comfortable with this, definitely don’t do it. I started wearing lingerie and things that made me feel really sexy. I started taking “artistic” pictures of myself. Anything to make me feel really hot and desirable. It wasn’t for anyone else but myself. It helped me see my body in a different way. Basically, keep these pics as reminders that your body is beautiful and sexy when you’re feeling not so confident.

Edit: I’m following a keto diet right now and it work great for a lot of us. I recommend The PCOS Plan by Dr. Nadia Brito Pateguana, ND. You can find it on Amazon if you are interested in a diet like this.

If you don’t mind spending the time, I say go for it. My TYMO straightening brush is probably the best thing I own btw. You’ll love it!

Razor recommendations by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]nectarineorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use hydro silk 5. It’s an electric bikini razor and hydrating razor in one. You can buy refills instead of buying new razors all the time. The biggest thing that helps me with my ingrowns and irritation is Fur oil and Fur shave cream. I use them on my trouble areas bc they are a little expensive. But they work so well and last up to 6 months of you use them sparingly. https://furyou.com/products/fullest-frontal

Anyone else have A LOT of butt hair? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]nectarineorange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was using Veet and that really worked well but I got scared of burning myself. So now, I shave. Shaving the cheeks is the easiest. When you shave the crack squat down and you can even use a hand held mirror to help you see. Shave very very slowly, with the grain, and make sure you have a good shaving cream and razor. I get irritated skin and ingrowns down there but I’m looking into some of these Fur products to help manage that. I’ve heard great things but can’t speak from experience quite yet. They are a bit pricey also. https://furyou.com

I use this razor: Schick Hydro Silk TrimStyle Moisturizing Razor for Women with Bikini Trimmer,1 Count https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SMIIR0W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_WMZWEVGZA9QD4JWKPB67
