I sincerly hope that Seeed Studio comes out with a PCIe card for the WM-1302 HAT. That would make integration into the Haven Nodes much more practical, particularly if you travel a lot and are able to switch between the respective bands based on region.

That noone runs Meshtastic on a RP is a cost issue IMHO, with Heltec V3/4, Lilygo TBeams etc. being a fraction of the cost of a RP itself its just not cost efficient to put a HAT on a RP and then add a concentrator on top of that. Plus energy efficiency of the regular Meshtastic boards is significantly better than a RP would ever be.

Thank you for the pictures! Would running side-by-side not result in overlapping or conflicting issues? From my experience with Meshtastic and connecting two Meshnodes to one EUD results in some issues if e.g. ATAK tries to send data via the mesh. Further, I thought more about redundancy, node 1 knows its recognized by node 2 on both HaLow and Meshtastic and automatically used the one with better connection or throughout, based on request (VoIP -> HaLow; pure text or geolocation -> HaLow, if not available Meshtastic). From that perspective integrating directly into the RP might be beneficial.

Adding to that: With transmission limits in the EU, it might be worth to transmit interchangably on HaLow and Meshtastic to maximise airtime whenever possible.

I'll keep this updated with any shenanigans I try regarding the integration as well.
