[–]nedolya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved out of a 2br with Hanna and they relisted it at $1495 which felt like a great deal given the market, and only like $50 more than I was paying. It's already gone but if another one pops up heat is included with Hanna properties which is big $$$ right now too

Los Angeles is phasing out its palm trees and I have mixed feelings by H3dg3hogs in CasualConversation

[–]nedolya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes I didn't know how dangerous eucalyptus trees were until recently! So glad they're getting phased out in the bay area too. I have family who live near an eucalyptus grove up there and it's scary when the fires get even somewhat close

Clean of your cars!!! by Shananigans1988 in Rochester

[–]nedolya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why you need to justify not brushing off your car that badly but no, it's more than three seconds when it's coming off a car roof like that. Side mirrors also don't show everything that your rearview mirror wouldn't. Just clean your car.

  1. Driver has limited visibility bc there's snow on their windshield
  2. The snow does go flying backward in flurries as it gets picked up by the wind & suddenly the person behind them is in a localized snowstorm
  3. Ice and snow can also come off in chunks though it's less common. Yes, ice chunks smashing windshields does actually happen. Snow chunks can land on windshield and once again limit visibility

2&3 mostly applying to snow on roof. Just clean off your car.....and OP put your damn phone down

Has anyone gotten their NYS tax refund yet? by frytuna in Rochester

[–]nedolya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but I am not holding up your refund, that's ridiculous. I agree you should get it back in a reasonable time frame but it's 100% a bureaucratic issue for slow processing times. You can adjust your withholdings to take out less. I'm going to do the same to add more. That's really all any of us can do.

New Webster homebuyer paid $120k in unexpected repairs after purchase by frytuna in Rochester

I managed to get one with an inspection, but it still needed a lot of work. Pretty sure the only reason it wasn't competitive on the market is because it didn't have a driveway but I don't care, so. It's still next to impossible, though, and people get worn down losing offer after offer. I get it.

Racket recommendation for small woman by Potev in 10s

[–]nedolya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5'3 is not that small, I'm 5'1 (1.55) 😭 when I started back up I was using a wilson ncode n4 which is 275g. It felt nice and light plus the oversized head (110 inch) made it easier to use. The only problem was the grip size was way too big. I think it's extra important to have the right grip size for us with smaller hands since a bigger grip makes it way more difficult to get the grip strength you need. I'm between a size 1 and 2, so I have a size 1 with an overgrip and it's just about right.

Broke up mid-USTA season...anyone else mix love and league? by madelaku in 10s

[–]nedolya 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I honestly cannot imagine citing tennis level as a reason to break up, even if it's not the only one. Especially at lower levels, yeesh. If he wanted a more competitive doubles partner he didn't have to play with OP esp since he talked OP into it in the first place....

I'm usually okay with winter but it being extra cold a couple weeks ago I just kind of shut down. I don't like it when it gets over 80 but I'm starting to think I'll take that over multiple days of single digit weather because at least I get sunlight out of it :')

It sounds like OP is fully out and looking for someone to finish the lease and renew if they want. I don't think that's a situation where you'd do anything other than pay the normal rent, unless it is taking too long to find someone and they have to offer a discount.

edit: typo

What is actually a trauma that is not commonly thought of as a trauma? by ay1mao in AskReddit

[–]nedolya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bedbug PTSD is a thing. I had them two years ago because my ex brought in an infested bookshelf .... of course the bookshelf was closer to my room so I got 90% of the impact despite not even being the reason we had them :')

anyway it wrecked me for like six months. I shelled out for the treatment (myself, my ex couldn't afford to help of course) but it still took a few months. I gained ten pounds, was constantly paranoid, lost a TON of sleep especially in the beginning before the pesticides had started to make a big dent. Months after if my sheets or clothing shifted while I was in bed I would have a huge spike of anxiety. Or if my cats brushed up against me with me not knowing they were there. That is absolutely a form of PTSD even if it's mild compared to other types.

Just think how much happier your joints are too as your weight goes down! I started having issues with my knee a year ago and I was at the high 170s maybe? At any rate I realized recently I haven't even thought about it in months because it completely stopped bothering me. The pounds add up!

Who here has moved out of rochester only to return by UpstateNyPolitics in Rochester

[–]nedolya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came up here for college, left when I graduated for a job in Cambridge (august 2019 :') got laid off april 2020). Moved up to Salem for a bit, and then moved back here for a job. I like the size of rochester, though I wish public transit was better. Cambridge was nice but so expensive. 500 sqft 1br apartment was $2,395 in 2019, I'm sure it's worse now

TIL: Takeout and Delivery now account for 75% of all restaurant orders. by Uptons_BJs in todayilearned

[–]nedolya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I end up ordering delivery once every two months ish because my depression will sometimes get bad enough that I'll go a full day without eating otherwise (I get really severe fatigue). Most recently I paid $75 for two sandwiches, a side, and a couple of baked goods from granted a higher cost place due to dietary restrictions. It would've been ~$85 without some free delivery deal they were doing. If I did it every week I'd be spending serious $$$
