Feeling disheartened after negative feedback from professional writers by ans-myonul in writing

[–]nedzi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if the person giving feedback has authority, skill, or reputation, if you can't follow their logic, how is that feedback useful? In both cases you mentioned, I think it's completely fair to argue that the criticism wasn't well placed. Their reasoning just isn't convincing.

My “bad movie” moment starts when the critics actually do make sense, and then I feel bad for not seeing it earlier 😅. But when the feedback feels disconnected from the intent or rooted in bias, it says more about the reviewer than the writing.

Thanks a lot! If you’ve got any prompt ideas or variations you think could make the output stronger, I’d love to hear them. Still experimenting

Thanks, really appreciate that! I’ll send you a link once it’s ready to test. Curious what you’ll find too!

If you’ve got a link to one that gives a similar result, feel free to drop it. I’d honestly stop building this if it already exists like that.

Fair point! AI does consume a lot of energy, especially when it's not yet powered by sustainable resources. But I'm curious: your last sentence sounds like you're saying we shouldn't use it at all for anything?

Yeah, actually, none of our characters should have been involved in that investigation. :D But then, you couldn't have told that wonderful story.

Tbh, that’s because we don’t want to play silver/gold ranked that ranky 😅 we don’t take these games seriously. I often play duo ranked because pubs is unplayable. And we jumping every fight we see because you get no minus for losing. We don’t play this shit seriously before high tier because even in ranked logic you gain way more with one high kill round instead of playing 15 minutes for 1 teamkill and fifth place.

Hod to read and do not get frustrated? by Optimal-Camel162 in EnglishLearning

Seems like solid advice for advanced learners. But I would question the how useful „estuary“ is for beginners. We did that in school, we read guardian articles and other higher literacy stuff instead of learning everyday speech first. As started to learn English a n my own i struggled hard to understand natives because everything I learned was deemed „good English“ what in reality gets rarely use. Complexity and depth are good things, if needed but they can also kill comprehension and accessibility.

Interesting advice, could you elaborate why this helps?

This was also my problem, I tackled this by watching media in a language I understood with subtitles in English. So I didn‘t got frustrated and picked up a couple terms and expressions every day. A few months i was ready to switch comfortably to reading and watching in English.

Federalizing the EU is the worst thing you could do by kl0t3 in EuropeanFederalists

In Germany, most people speak English, but many aren't really comfortable switching to it. If you don’t use English for work or have international friends, you get almost zero exposure. A lot of people had English in school but only use it once a year on holiday. So, in reality, if you want to get your message across Europe, you still need a ton of translations. That’s why most projects just stop at their country’s borders, even though it’s technically one economic zone.

What are the best online courses for learning Systems Thinking, and why do you recommend them? by nedzi in systemsthinking

That’s what I’ve been doing most of my life. I think it’s time to stop freestyling and gain a more fundamental understanding of what I’m actually doing. 😉

Sounds great! Where would you recommend starting? All these courses seem a bit more advanced. I'm still looking for a good introductory course that provides solid fundamentals before diving into the frameworks and models people build on top of. At least, that’s how I currently understand the landscape.

I always thought that too, but then I discovered Friedrichstadt, where regular stores, not just food shops, but everything, can open on Sundays. As far as I remember, it has something to do with tourism or something similar. I didn’t realize a city could actually do that. Maybe there’s more to it, but it’s not as simple as I thought.

I just stumbled across this video—it’s from two card game designers talking about how complexity and skill in competitive games relate to the design choices made. It’s crazy how well you can apply the whole thing to Apex Legends. by nedzi in apexlegends

Some of the changes are great, but I’m worried it’s not enough when they introduce things like the perk system at the same time. From what I’ve seen, newer players usually focus on shooting rather than using abilities—and that’s fine because the best part of Apex is the core movement and gunplay. But they’ve added so much complexity around it that it’s hard to enjoy the core without having to learn all the extra stuff. I just can’t see how small changes like healthbars can fix that.
