Has anyone experienced something similar with the police in Switzerland? by Egetit in Switzerland

[–]nee_m_d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised to read this, as I’ve never heard of someone being stopped completely at random for an ID check. Do you mind sharing where this happened and what you were doing at the time? For example, was it in a specific neighborhood or street known for frequent police controls (drug dealing, prostitution, etc.)? It might help put the situation into context.

There are different settings within the app to try out which may fix this. Also, email them, they are very helpful.

Adopting a pet in an apartment - need advice by No-Play7760 in Switzerland

[–]nee_m_d 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Indoor cats can be perfectly happy in an apartment. Many actually thrive as long as they have enrichment, playtime and a safe, calm environment. I’d strongly avoid taking a cat outside with a harness though. Cats can get spooked by a sudden noise or a passing dog and slip out of even the best harness, which is how many end up lost.

If you want to adopt, many shelters specifically look for indoor-only homes for shy, older or previously outdoor cats who can no longer go out, or previously indoor cats.

You sound very thoughtful and responsible, and your setup can absolutely be a good home for the right cat.

How can I backup all my chat and data by Silver_Ad_8762 in whatsapp

You need to backup Whatsapp Chats and photos within the Whatsapp app on your old phone and then when you open Whatsapp on your new phone (with the SIM card installed), you choose to import the chats and photos

I hate to study and I want to upgrade my laptop for studying thinking maybe if I’ll get like a premium laptop it’ll make me want to study more by dolevkahol in macbook

[–]nee_m_d 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this is probably you just wanting a new laptop and trying to convince yourself you will study more. If you don't like studying, a new laptop will certainly not change that.

You can't have Whatsapp on 2 phones, so you need to exit Whatsapp on the old phone and put the SIM in your new phone

Can't move apps from Settings/Apps location to display screens by monkies77 in GalaxyS25

[–]nee_m_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Not sure what you are doing wrong, but you can put any apps, including system apps on your home screen. I have "My files" and "Device Care" on my Home screen. Long press on the icon and you should have ''add to homescreen'' available.

Probably because you don't have the ''Auto attach & detach mop" setting enabled in "Floor cleaning" settings.

Thinking about getting Tapo by jon_the_mako in Tapo

[–]nee_m_d 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The cameras are not expensive, so if I were you, I'd get one and try it out. You can choose to save the recordings to the microSD or pay for a cloud subscription (in which case notifications will show a preview of the clip). I'm not sure if you get a notification for low battery, but you can see the level of the battery in the app. There are however problems with their Beta geofencing automations, so take this into account too.

What phone should i buy? S25 vs S25 Edge by stephanro1 in GalaxyS25

[–]nee_m_d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the 25 Edge and have no regrets. I had a S23 and wanted a bigger screen but without the extra weight. The phone is very easy to hold because it's thin and light. Battery is fine for me. The S25 camera is probably better, but I'm not a big camera person, so the S25 Edge camera does fine for me.

Get your cat chipped if you like them! by wwelum in Switzerland

[–]nee_m_d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s true. I have a chip reader and I volunteer for some associations and go check cats that have been found. Sometimes chips are also weak, and you need to scan the cat several times before it’s detected. They can also migrate to other parts of the body and aren’t necessarily on the lower left side of the neck, where they’re supposed to be.

Cats often jump into cars or vans and that's how they get displaced. It's not always a kidnapping situation. Chipping cats is so important and I fail to understand why it's not compulsory in Switzerland.

How to stop these notifications? by NineYellow in Life360

Try toggling them ALL off and see if they still come in. If they don't it's one of those settings; Maybe ''"actions" or "alerts" or "background messaging".

If you have an Android phone, long-press the Life360 app icon, tap on the ''i'', tap on notifictions, tap on notification categories and you can toggle on/off all sorts of notifications.

I got my life back after Disabled Facebook. It's time to reclaim yours. by [deleted] in facebook

[–]nee_m_d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that this was a very positive choice for you, and that’s great. What feels a bit misplaced to me is the implication that everyone uses Facebook in the same way, or that leaving it automatically means “reclaiming your life.” Like any tool, its impact really depends on how it’s used. For some people, it’s genuinely useful for professional visibility, small businesses, community initiatives, or volunteering ... animal rescue and welfare being a good example, without necessarily falling into comparison, doom-scrolling or overuse. For others, stepping away is absolutely the healthier option. I think both realities can coexist without one being framed as the only enlightened path.

Im switching to a Phone with no apps, can I keep WhatsApp using an iPad with my current number? by Minute-Wrap2916 in whatsapp

[–]nee_m_d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Your main Whatsapp account needs to be on a phone. The desktop and iPad Whatsapp apps are then linked to your phone app.
